Obviously his area of expertise does not cover coins. Be happy to buy something in his realm of experience, just not coins.

When I was a teenager I worked for a specialty shop (not coins, but some antiques) and a customer would come and pick the store to pieces for years.... never seemed to have anything good to say about how I was doing things, yet still continued to come back in often. Finally after some time commented that we were the only place that listened and they trusted us to always give a fair deal.

You never know how this guy is thinking of it, I'd say go back, be polite and gauge how this guy is feeling about the whole thing before you decide to stay away.

Is it always just the same guy in there? And how fired up did you get? I mean I could tell the same story and it could mean different things if I got a bit perturbed when I felt like they were giving me the shaft.

My wife tells me that on occasion I come across as much more angry and intimidating than I mean. So if that happened here and you see they same guy you might shoot him a "no hard feelings" kind of greeting and explain that you may have gotten a little fired up when you figured out the coin you really liked was a counterfeit.

If that didn't happen, I wouldn't give it much thought. People get andgry at retail establishments all the time. If they all held grudges they'd be pretty empty. So unless he kicks you on your ear you are fine.

you handled it very professionally and that is sad for a store to have fakes flea market yes of course, but an antique store they should be ashamed of themselves they handled themselves very poorly!!

Argh, this drives me NUTS. It is NOT should of, it is should've, the contraction of should have!

You should understand the internet is a big place and allot of people, (even some on this forum) English isn't their first language and sometimes isn't even their second. So I hope from now on maybe you will think of this before you get so disgusted on the internet about someones broken English. They may have learned the English language on their own and didn't have the College professor that some others have had to teach them while they were

offer the refund as soon as you showed him it was fake,

Ummmmm, the dealer DID immediately agree to the refund of the counterfeit....

and he looked at the coin, looked at my reference material, and said "OK".

As for did you handle it right? Sure did. Nothing at all wrong with anything you said IMO. There should be zero reason for younot to go back. Though, as you said, it would not be for coins.

I think you did well. If I were you, I would go there anytime I wish without feeling blacklisted.

I think you should be fine. Wait at least or two then go back in, don't bring it up. You are within your right to ask for a refund of both coins if you wanted for no reason other than he just sold you a counterfeit coin and another coin. Do you know for certain the other wasn't fake as well? Obviously you are stating you're not going to buy more coins from him so why should you wait to start?

I understand completely!! However, you may have to get over this "nuttiness" since this thread alone has more than 10 grammatical and spelling errors!

Personally, I think you'll find it's not worth trying to correct everyone's errors. Enjoy the content and ignore the problems!

Group hug!!
