This is the front and back of the design for the US dime that has been made every year since 1946. The picture is former president Franklin D. Roosevelt. What was strange to you?

I assume it was strange that the dime was from 2006 and he found it in 1991...

epikur, pick up on it too!
Probably what is strange is how did a dime from 2006 get found in 1991? Time travel anyone? That "6" looks like a "0", but the top tail may be weak or shaved off.

I just assumed the OP misspoke in some way. Was someone really making fantasy Roosevelt dimes in the '90's, with dates from the next millennium (and leaving them to be found in Iran?)

I had to read the OP post several time before I assumed that maybe he didn't mean to say a 2006 dime was found in 1991.
1.21 Giga-watts! The only thing that could produce that kind of power is a lightning bolt and you never know when or where it's gonna strike!

Anyone read Stephen King's 11/22/63? This very topic was discussed. If you made it known that you had this future dime in your possession when you found it, you would have likely been of great interest to the FBI.
Man.. that was a great book. In the words of Ferris Bueller.. "Its so choice, if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

pejman,
I'm sorry but the possibility of finding a dime with a date 15 years in the future is impossible unless it's a Very VERY good counterfeit that someone wanted to mess with people.
Sorry to say but you are mistaken in your findings.

Amazing to find any US coins in Iran and in 1971 or whenever. I would assume some of our troops left them there somewhere. And finding a 2006 anything in 1991 only proves that money can go anywhere, anytime. Imagine if real and did happen, who would be the one making coins that far ahead? And why?

Pejman, That is an image of, as someone else said, a United States Roosevelt dime. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a distant cousin of US President Theodore Roosevelt, and was our president for twelve years (three full four-year terms; he was elected for a fourth, but only served a few months of it before his death), the longest time of any United States President. His image was chosen for our dime in large part because he founded the American charity now known as the March of Dimes (in its original form, the charity asked citizens to donate one dime to fight polio, an illness that caused paralysis, plenty of other nasty symptoms, and in many cases, death). Some of Roosevelt's other accomplishments include ending the Great Depression; the New Deal; our Social Security system; and much of the fight of WWII. Other points that may be of interest to you, if you're not familiar with US coinage, would be the various inscriptions on the coin. "LIBERTY" and "In God We Trust" appear on all current American coinage (except for our dollar coin, where the Statue of Liberty is substituted for the word LIBERTY). The little letters below Roosevelt's neck are the initials of the man who designed the coin, and someone else here can probably tell you what his name is. The "D" to the right of Roosevelt's head stands for Denver; there are two Mints in the United States that produce circulating coinage, one in Denver, Colorado and one in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both of these cities are very large, and you can find them on a map. "D" for Denver means that your particular coin was minted in Denver. Finally, "E Pluribus Unum" is the United States motto, and means "Out of many, one" in Latin. This phrase is also on most of our money, although I think a few coins are missing it. Your particular coin looks like it's in pretty good shape for having made a journey halfway around the world! I don't see any errors, and it looks like the details are all intact. You may be interested to know that I also have a 2006-D with that same weird weak 6 in the date; I wonder if our coins came from the very same die? All in all, if you're interested in collecting US coinage, this is a nice dime to start yourself off with. Don't let the joking around scare you off, please--I don't speak any of the Arabic languages, but I speak Spanish just well enough to know how hard it can be to communicate in a language you don't know that well. Edited because I managed to mix up the Roosevelts and the Adamses and still not get all the details right. *hangs head in shame*
