Zonad: lol!
kitsy: Yep, looks extra pointed to me. As well, in the extra pointed 3 variety the top of the 3 is thinner than in both the regular pointed 3 and in the blunt 3.

Does anyone have knowledge of how many blunt / pointed / and extra pointed 1938 nickels there are...? I mean percentage wise. Some one is selling a blunt3 on ebay for $1,000.00..

My experience is that they're split fairly evenly among the 3 varieties; I haven't found any that seemed to be rarer than the others. I did find them tougher to get in nice shape than the other KGVI nickels, though.

My '38 must have been struck on the same reverse die as wert's (notice the DB between A-D in CANADA and raised metal on the right side of the lower part of the 3):

So what is the real premium on the extra pointed 3? I have the same one with the connected AD and the metalin on the side o the 3. If this would fetch 1400 may the quickest response win lol!

Unfortunately, raised metal beside the 3 and joined AD's don't bring a premium; I wish they did. I've got over 20 1938 nickels; virtually all have the raised part next to the 3 and all have the joined AD. And as far as I can tell, nearly all (or in fact all?) of the pre-war KG nickels have the joined AD.
