yeah, the coin was very heavily corroded and also dirty (or just corroded) to the point that it looked copper, I wish I got before and after pictures but I didnt but you can clearly see the date and tell by looking at it that its a steel penny.
just lemon juice and a sock worked, ill put up this picture of the heads side and see if you guys can figure out if this is corrosion or what. I wont use brushes or solvents or creams or anything else that would hurt or destroy it more than it already is

compared to the front of the coin, the back is barely touched by scratches, no corrosion just some scratches from frequent wear and tear but is very shiny almost mirror-like
