Found this note today.. I know it's one off from being a radar but could this be considered a ladder?  |

I would not call is note a ladder...
Ladders go like: 00123450 or 00987654
Hope this helps.

Well, I like it anyways. It's an "ugh" because it's almost a radar.. and it also climbs with two zeros in the center. Either way it costs me a dollar to keep and I like it. That's all the reason I need. :)

I just noticed I forgot to put the link in my last post lol. Doesn't make much sense without it!. Yes this is a ladder type serial. No it is not a true ladder, never let someone discourage you from collecting what you like. I can be critical of things (like the word trinary for example) but I always try to add that thought along with the criticism. Check out that link I posted to my Ladder thread. It isn't a ladder, but collect what you like. If people start creating their own personal definitions of a ladder note and not stick to the traditional definition, you just confuse all of the new comers to the field. I'm starting to see this more often and eventually every note will be considered a ladder or some other special name.  |

Most people would consider this to be a repeater 18181818. There are those that would consider this a repeater 11881188. Are those people wrong? By your "stick to the traditional definition" rules they are. |

Well, they do repeat though, so what does the original definition say then? And my argument is, I have seen the definition stretched so far, that almost every note is a repeater or a ladder. And that is getting carried away. That is why people are asking what is or is not a repeater or ladder. The definition is stretched to the point it covers such an extremely wide range. And there is nothing with adding to the definition. Just don't get carried away with it. Edited by wquinn

I like you do agree that a lot of junk is called what ever people want and I do not agree with it. But my problem is always with something more along the lines of these (for example). 01213121 is not a radar 45111111 is not a solid 91212121 is not a repeater 69099969 is not a binary etc. All these break the pattern and void it IMHO. I can however live with something like 7683 7684 being a ladder (although not a good one) since it doesn't break the pattern. |
