Just pulled the trigger on a tube of 20 2013 Britannias from Provident. I tried to resist, but they are so dang beautiful...

This is somewhat interesting and thought there would be a few people here that would like a bit of a history lesson on "Una and the Lion". The design of the bullion coin was lifted/stolen/inspired from what they still call a medal/plaque from Britain in World War 1. If you had a famiy member die on the battlefield the Military would send the family a "Death Medal" with the name of the soldier on one side and the Image of Britannia and the Lion on the reverse. I am saying its on the reverse due to the current configuration of the 2001 Bullion coin.

I've read a lot of comments online from people who said that their 2013 Britannia's are coming in with some minor marks on them. I'm not sure if it was just the distributor being careless but has anyone noticed this/had this problem? I was really disappointed to read that. Love the Britannia's.

I think the kind of damage referred to is usually the result of transit, when the coins have the opportunity get bounced around inside the mint tubes. The
damage I've seen on ASE's is usually on Liberty's bust and on CSM's it's usually on the high point of the Queen's cheek. These are the two highest points
on those sides of those two coins, so they take the brunt of in-tube clanking around. I suspect the same thing is likely what happened with those Brits.

Edit--My '13 Britannia was undamaged, so I guess I lucked out.

Although I always liked the design and did collect
a few, I wasn't hooked 'cause of the lack of purity and being taxable here.

But with The Royal Mint getting with the program now,
I might just hoard myself a bit more. 999 is tax free
They do have higher premiums and a bit harder to find.
