A lot of people don't like the name "junk silver" What name do you like better? I like just "90 % silver coins" "Constitutional Silver" is ok, but not my fave. Curious what other people think

"Junk" Silver and "Common" gold. I like neither of them.
One could use "Bullion" silver and "Numismatic" silver and "Bullion" gold and "Numismatic" gold to differentiate valuation.
You use of "90% silver coins" is not specific enough because ALL silver coins, both junk and gem, are 90%.
AHA! Change:
I like just "90 % silver coins" to I like "Just 90% silver coins" and you just may have a candidate!
Sadly, words of more than one syllable are not understood by many young stackers.
Welcome to the "Family!"

Quote: ALL silver coins, both junk and gem, are 90%. How about the 40% Kennedy's - they are silver. So are War Nickels.

I usually call it "90% silver". I avoid buying "junk silver" and try to stick with decent quality VG/better material.
"Junk silver" makes me think of culls, damaged, slicks, holed, etc. Stuff I don't want.

I agree totally with BH1964. I actually cringe at the name "junk silver" Anything that sells for 23 X face is hardly junk. I like my 90% silver as near uncirculated as possible. I once asked my LCS to replace the Mercury dimes (with Roosevelts)in a roll I was buying because of their bad wear. I don't like Mercuries for that reason. All I do have are really nice. 90% silver is fine with me. Describes it perfectly. As well as 80% Canadian; 40% Kennedy; etc.

I realized that 90% was not inclusive, but I figured I'd see who corrected me.
The most precise word to use is "Intrinsic." All coins which contain ANY amount of silver have intrinsic value.

"low premium piece of metal containing less than 999 of associated metal" too long? then let's stay with "junk silver"
