Working on getting a complete set of Britannias. Anyone else collecting these beautiful coins even with their substantial premium?

I absolutly love them! Except for the fact that the only one I ever owned was a 2012 one which I got for my mom on mothers day........

Yeah, I'm also slowly working on acquiring a complete set. This is my favorite series. I have about half of them so far.

I used to have quite a few of them but I had to sell them off because of the recent Divorce. This is pictures of some that I had http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...hp?album=973 I do still have the whole set of 2006 which is 24kt Gold Guilded with all the different designs on it though

I am collecting them and love them. I have all of the regular yearly issues except the proof only 1997 inaugural issue. On the 2006 gilded ones, I only have the one with the same design as the 2003. Am looking forward to next year and after where they will be doing two different ones each year. I keep them in a blank Dansco album with blank 40 mm pages, and they look awesome.

I have just a couple, I think that is probably enough for the time being. In an ideal world I would get one of each reverse type but money is tight and I would prefer to spend the money elsewhere at present. If money was no object I would get the 9 1-ounce set with each of the reverses...at £500 it is just too much premium to pay but I am sure it would be a lovely set to own.

Wow, I just learned something. I thought the series started in 1998 now I know it starts with a 1997 Britannia.

Their was a 1997 proof, but the bullion series started in '98.

the 1997 is the one that is worth a fortune, that is why I only had the half ounce of that one. It is the first chariot design (the one I like best of all others) and it also had the younger queen on the Obverse which I tend to like a little better also I guess because it reminds me of some of the older coins. They are actually some classic coins they called Britannia also and I think these were just resurrected in 1997 from that series but I don't know enough about the classic series to say for sure

Travin, I think my enthusiasm to want to talk about Britannias has got the best of me. In fact I really wasn't even thinking about collecting them until I recently saw the picture of the 2003. Then when I started looking at the various coins in the series I got really fired up. Sorry if I was beating a dead horse. I just saw liking and collecting as 2 different levels of interest.

Received my 2010 today. It came in a mint pack. Should I leave it in the mint pack (which is ugly) or transfer it to a foam airtite?
