Is it already known to collectors (who care) that there are minor changes to the obverse portrait of QE II between 2010 and 2011?

The new obverse has reduced detail and the initials "SB" are placed differently on the shoulder. Other than this, I haven't yet noticed any other significant differences. And I haven't yet checked other denominations either.

There has been no news about this yet on CCF (to my knowledge). But it still may be well known (in which case sorry for the post).

In any case it's worth a look for transitional varieties.

I'll search through a few more of these and report back later.

Update: after nearly 100 searched from each of 2010 and 2011, I found no transitional variety. All 2012 I have seen (not very many) bear the portrait of 2011.

I have also previously mentioned this on CC and I forgot about the thread.
Any links or pictures?

I'll try to post a picture.

By the way, the 2012 quarter in my pocket still has the old reverse. So maybe there is a chance at a "mule" variety in some denomination.

I am very curious if this difference is only on the cents or all coins.

The only other coins nickel to quarter to change other than the penny are the 2011 legendary nature colorized and plain that I see.
