Matthewvincent, Thank you for the kind remarks on my 1890 V but as you can see not all my nickels have that nice antique patina. My 1891

That's the problem with your fun threads moe. I (you,us) end up getting upgrades when we see our coins in print. I've already bought 3, and as you can see could use a lot more

It appears our beloved upstate is yet another to exhibit a case of the M O E virus. There is one possible treatment however....

Seriously, upstate, I am much more likely to praise a "dirty" but pretty VF instead of a BU. Yours is quite pretty. And a HIGH VF at that! My envy grows ... grows ... grows ...

You know Matt, I was thinking of starting a thread "whats your favorite coin grade" sure everyone loves a MS65 morgan, a PR70 ASE, a red IHC, an early lincoln with hints of red in the devices... The list goes on. But day in and day out my favorite coin grade is a lightly circulated XF40-45. Antique patina, seen some hands, got a story to tell. Oh I'm with ya all the way.

1892 - there is a story about this one. Brad, my new, best dealer friend, allowed me to "borrow" his personal collection last month in New Hampshire. I fell asleep comparing his "Vs" to mine. The next day, late in the afternoon, we did a trade plus cash. We were both quite pleased. My original had tape on it and looked like ... His was a distinct improvement.

upstate, If money were no object, a person could hand a blank check to a major auction house and ask for a complete set of mint state "V" Nickels. It would take a little time, but it could be done. Not so easy if you want the set in nice VF or XF, problem free and nicely struck and worn. Eye appeal and nice patina. Above all matched. NOT EASY! I'll leave the well-heeled "collector" to simply buy a "bragging rights" set to show his buddies at the country club. I'm quite content to share the fruits of a L O N G and ongoing search to the members of the CCF.

Well Matt.. I'm not well-heeled nor are my buddies. I DO appreciate the beauty of a well struck little jewel with a rich mint glow. There are others here who share that feeling - Jaobler, Nickelsearcher, myself and yes, our dear spinner of this thread Moe to name a few. I might also add that NickelSearcher has one of the finest high grade collections of Early Commemoratives that I have ever seen. He also has one of the lowest grade in the same series. That's what makes this wonderful hobby so wonderful. As you can see, it's not VF or the highway... Excuse me whilst I step down from my soapbox and post my 1892 Lady. And yes, she's been in circulation.. 1892 Liberty (V) Nickel:
