Hi everyone, this is my first post! I too am trying to find a capsule for this awesome polar bear coin! There is an ebay auction with an old oversized capsule on display. Does anyone have an idea where this capsule is from or if it's possible to obtain one? Since I'm new here, I think I need to refrain from posting outside links. But it should be ok to post the ebay item number: 261143743498The coin looks mighty impressive with this kind of capsule. Note the marks on the obverse of the coin though. If the marks are on the capsule, then I assume it's an old capsule. Still, appears to be a good fit. Any thoughts? Thanks...

That is a nice Capsule. Have no idea where the dealer got it. Btw, welcome to the board

From the listing it just looks like a regular air-tite capsule. There is no picture of the side so you can't really know for sure if the thing closes all the way or not. If it is the correct size, then that's awesome, but I don't know if I believe it.

Allspice: Asked the ebay vendor about the capsule he used for the Polar Bear. Response below: The capsule is called the Air-Tite X38. It fits coins with a diameter of 38mm and a depth of 4mm but works perfectly for this coin which has a depth of 4.5mm. There's no rattling and the capsule closes fully. Here is the link where I bought it from (near the bottom of the page): http://www.air-tites.com/Air-Tite_R...olders_1.htmHope this helps!

Thanks for the comments & warm welcome! Thanks very much for the valuable info, Alan! It's a comfort to know that there is a capsule for this coin, especially if more of the same 1.5 oz types emerge in the near future. . Also, decent price & good reference for unusual sizes... Beats the idea of this ebay vendor too (see item # 390513543516); just get an old quadrant capsule & tape it down!

For 25$ price difference, I will opt for that old quadrant capsule and tape.

Just curious.
This coin belongs to 2012 or 2013?

On the website it says the capsule won't close all the way but should be acceptable. I want to wait and see how they fit.

here's their facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Air-T...02907213001. It showed the ebay picture. "This picture was sent to us by one of our best customers, Mr. Barry Cyr. This is the reverse of a 2013 Canadian Polar Bear 1.5 oz. silver coin in an X38 Air-Tite Ring Type coin holder."

I think I posted this before.. Air-tites have put up the information about using X38 for the polar bear 1.5oz many days ago. And they said it themselves that the capsule won't close completely. http://www.air-tites.com/images/AT-...e-view-2.jpgI have ordered two of these capsules from them a few days ago, still haven't heard my order got shipped yet. Will try it out once I got them.
