find a copy of canadian coin news mid november read the front page, this coin at one point was only sold by lear capital at 14.00 premium. this is the stupid situation when you create a one off canadian coin for private industry , hard to believe but the RCM is like a franklin mint. if the 8500 mintage is correct A Mark needs to wholesale all the mintage at 150.00 each and still lose money.

You must be new to this. Almost every privy mark maple leaf was minted for a private company, some of them US companies. Like I said before when the coin first came out, you could only get it in the USA. I'd love a list of all these Canadian companies selling it, I know of a few but I know more that aren't selling. Buillon dealers.

I received the X38 capsules from air-tite today (yea, canadapost is delivering mail on Sunday, shocking! ).
The capsule actually fit better than what their web site says. It didn't close completely, as if I push a bit harder I can feel the capsule close a bit more, but then it will bounce back and leave a tiny gap. The gap is soooo small that I cannot really feel it when I brush my finger across the gap. So I would say it is a good fit! Thumb up .

The official RCM affiliates can be looked up on your web browser. There aren't very many of them. Albern coins is where I bought mine. When asked if 8500 was true the gal at the booth didn't know. She thought they (Albern) would maybe have 8500. You can try them if you like.

The point about the privy markings on private orders is the whole point. THERE ARE NO privi's of lear Cap or anyone else on this bullion. It's more like a 99.99 prooflike ltd. edition silver twoonie. I wouldn't be surprised to look up this same bear came in second place ten+ years ago to what is the current two dollar circulation pic. or was on some other limited edition coin.

Who would design their own bullion at a higher mintage AND over spot premium to the wildlife series with one yet to be released? They probably wouldn't, probably didn't and it isn't only being sold in the U.S. who gets their order a few days ahead is meaningless as long as the spot price doesn't spike.

I Calculate there will be a maximum 225,000 Polar Bears. Albern (An official RCM Distributor of all RCM products)prices december 21 2012 at 4pm: Maple leaf $31.97, Antelope $33.67, Polar bear $59.26. The premium for the antelope over the maple leaf is 5.3% The premium for the Polar bear over 1.5 maple leaves is 23.6% and 4.4528 times higher than the antelope with a max mint of 1 million...1 million divided by 4.4528 equals 225000. But that not to say that's what they did in pricing these funny bears. Merry Christmas

gate west or albern coins does not handle the 3/4 oz. war of 1812 silver coin, a coin created in exactlty the same situatuion by the RCM. A Mark supposively paid more than a million dollar to the RCM for creating this polar bear coin with an exclusive distribution. if the mintage is only 8500 A mark would be loosing all kinds of money.

Thanks for the info, I just bought a roll the other day. I should get them next week. I don't blame them for having a higher than normal premium, after all it's the first 1.5oz buillon coin. I assume they had to make special blanks for this coin.

I've asked the Albern people about RCM products and they always say ALL RCM PRODUCTS quite bluntly. The RCM likely has no choice but to let the distributors have them. Part of a legal binding agreement more than it's about complaining.

I was going to ask Midtown the same thing. If they carry all RCM products, how come nobody has the 1812 3/4oz coin.

I haven't seen the 3/4 oz 1812. But if it doesn't have privi's on it (like the polar bear) Then they may have a legal right to distribute them. Have you called them on the phone to enquire?

Just called them and heard for the first time they do NOT Carry all RCM coins and will NOT be getting the 3/4 oz 1812 from the mint (with an apology). Only available in the U.S. ...Shucks,,, I was sorta wrong, but a war (participated in) coin exclusive to the States makes alot more sense than a Polar Bear doesn't it Watson?

I've kept my eye on RCM products and war coins sell the slowest or don't sell out. I wouldn't mind getting one or two but the P.bear and Wildlifes will be more sought after internationally I think.

Another bad joke::::The coin minted in Canada exclusively sold in the States with a Guy wearing a turban on one side will have to wait a couple hundred years I guess.

By then our bones will be dust and there'll probably be an Arab Nation of States launching space shuttles.
