Quote: April 17, was the release date for the general public Quote: Sorry they didn't raise the price twice the first day. The Dinos were MC released on April 2 and general release was on April 9th (not the 17th). My records show that on April 17th, the mint changed their status to 'awaiting stock' and Gatewest raised their prices 3 times that day. Gatewest and other dealers had them at issue for more than a week. On a related note, there is another authorized dealer in Winnipeg that always charges a premium for all current products; even those that are not sold out. I don't know how they get around the mint's rule. http://www.collectiblescanada.ca/se...5/CategoriesPS - I'm not happy with yet another coin (set) being seriously delayed by the mint. I don't understand what the mint staff are thinking by creating these products, selling based on a promised ship date and then failing to deliver over and over again. Are they trying to build hype, kill the hobby or are they just incompetent?

Well, since a dealer got the penny set, maybe we'll start seeing them soon.

@taro-chan I hope you are right that we'll see them soon but I'm skeptical given the RCM is showing status: "Ships on 23-11-2012". Based on past delays, that probably means sometime in January That said, the ebay auction with actual pictures is encouraging and the coin set looks great. PS. Some folks had Dinos in hand in May. I got mine two weeks ago.....let's hope this isn't a repeat of that SNAFU. No new tech in the pennies so fingers crossed.

I wonder if the "fancy" box is the culprit here, as it was with the Go7 issue.

Yikes! Just read this review on mint.ca and this guy points to a problem with the box. Gotta say he's harsh but he nailed it (well maybe not so much the Perth Mint part). "What exactly is wrong with you? Took you 5 months to send my Two Loons, now another delay cause you are incapable of coming up with 5,000 wood boxes? Here's a tip, don't offer something for sale unless you are prepared to ship. To be the best a mint in the world? You have a long ways to go before you even come close to the Perth Mint."

I've said it before, I think the RCM needs to get out of the "fancy box" business and focus on coins. Put the collector focus back on the coins and not their packaging. Just my thoughts...

But their fancy boxes are all so nice. Have you seen the fancy boxes?

Actually, the box looks similar to the one that holds the 100th Anniversary 1911-2011 Canadian dollar set. I wouldn't call it fancy. But yeah, I don't know why they seem to always have problems with the boxes.

The coin is more important, not the box.

Coins are important, but the case is also important when presenting them in a collection
Do you really always want a maroon clam shell?

to me, there is only 1 RCM box can consider as fancy and impressive. It is the Chinese Lotus Series coin box. people sale the box itself for $200 on ebay.

I understand the coin is more important than the box but would you want to spend $150 on coins that ship like the Major-General Sir Isaac Brock - 25-cent Circulation 10-pack? I don't buy those new NZmint coins because it seems like they spend more time on designing the box than the coins. As for this 5 coin sets, I like it be present in the box they have but I don't understand why there's a delay. There's not that fancy of a box. It's not like these are encrave and painted box or anything. They are just wooden box. It shouldn't cause a delay.
