Eng5858 => hey, the Elephant & Bull is still available ... it is a "TOTAL WINNER" ...

man, obviously you guys know that these "4" entries are "all" my favourites ...

=> they've been narrowed-down through hours/wines of thought ... these four are the ultimate gladiators and the ones that if don't happen to buy should be bought by you guys for I've already done all of the ground-work ... but please don't, for they will be in my next batch of winners!!

... nuthin' but net

I have the original post coin, but I haven't took a photo of it. I was planning on giving to my sister for Xmas. She has a greyhound. She also kind of looks like the obverse. HAHA.

Personally I am very attracted to the siglos. I do like the Larry. With my most current collecting sphere I would select the Siglos and The Bactrian drachm....yea nice choice Steve we really do like the same coins.

Sorry, I don't mean to whip a dead horse, but now that I've already purchased this coin, I've had a bit more time to dig a bit deeper into the coin's history .... man, I love this coin!!

Quote:
The Nemean lion was a vicious monster in Greek mythology that lived at Nemea. It was eventually killed by Heracles. It could not be killed with mortal weapons because its golden fur was impervious to attack. Its claws were sharper than mortal swords and could cut through any armor.

Quote:
According to one version of the myth, the Nemean lion took women as hostages to its lair in a cave near Nemea, luring warriors from nearby towns to save the damsel in distress. After entering the cave, the warrior would see the woman (usually feigning injury) and rush to her side. Once he was close, the woman would turn into a lion and kill the warrior, devouring his remains and giving the bones to Hades.

Quote:
Heracles stunned the beast with his club and, using his immense strength, strangled it to death. Others say that he shot arrows at it, eventually shooting it in the unarmored mouth ... the Nemean lion's coat was impervious to the elements and all but the most powerful weapons.

Quote:
When he returned on the thirtieth day carrying the carcass of the lion on his shoulders, King Eurystheus was amazed and terrified. Eurystheus forbade him ever again to enter the city; in future he was to display the fruits of his labours outside the city gates. Eurystheus warned him that the tasks set for him would become increasingly difficult. He then sent Heracles off to complete his next quest, which was to destroy the Lernaean hydra.

=> oh great!! ... now I need to find a Lernaean Hydra coin!!

... man, this ancient Greek stuff is beyond cool, eh?!!

The Nemean lion was roaring at 3 am, and Heracles tried to shut him up.
