A co-worker of mine is wondering if the 2005 Five 9's experimental gold $50 maple leaf is a good investment in a PCGS MS69 holder. One is available for $3,500 and I am unable to find out any price trends due to being separated from my reference books.

Would anyone care to weigh in on this? Thanks.

It's been a while but one sold on ebay for $2,988.94 on January 22nd. Gold spot was at 1667$ at this moment.
Rest in Peace

A 2007 just sold for slightly over spot this week http://www.ebay.com/itm/19073870803...t_500wt_1167

It wasn't certified, but in original 'card'.

Highly suspect ebay seller. Notice the card shows a 2007 5x9 Maple as does the listing but the description says 2009? Also blurry pic helps. I would not trust that ebay seller AT ALL.

Also for 2007, there are T/E privy for test coins while there was also a "release" coin without the privy. I don't know the population of the 2007 T/E right now, but the 2005 experiment is only 498 minted and all graded.

@agrenier: can you show the listing with the one that sold on ebay? I can't find it.

@taro-chan: listing is too old and is not available anymore but it had nice pictures and everything... I could upload them here if I find how to do it!
