Is there anything special about this coin or should I through it in with my other foreign coins as a curiosity, put it back in a made roll of dimes, or hold it as something worth special merit? Anaximander Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 709 Posts	Posted 10/19/2012 05:41 am Is it the new small-size 5p? ( diameter 17.9mm from the one I just measured ). If so, unless it has special value through being an error, or similar, then it is worth exactly 5p! My reference states 1,634,976,005 were minted and they are still very common. 1990 is of interest for this coin as it was the first year of issue. It is also the last year of minting the old much larger 5p coins. If your coin is one of those then it is worth keeping, as only 102,606 were minted. None were for circulation, but were released in uncirculated sets for collectors. Report this Post to the Staff
Ben Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 4208 Posts	Posted 10/19/2012 05:57 am If its in a dime roll, its probably the new style one. due to its massive mintage (due to it being new) I dont think you'll get more than 5p for it, unless you stick it in a 3 for £1 deal or something.
