Remeber how I said I was going to complete my Jefferson Whitman folder exclusively from circulation finds?

Well, I caved in and bought a bag of 100 nickels for $10. There was some pretty standard stuff. But there also were some 1950's some 1938's and some 1951-S's. Best of all, there was a 1930 buffalo and a 1903 V nickel in the mix! They're in pretty poor shape, but a V nickel for just 2x face value seemed to me like a pretty good score.

You'll have to update your signature block. It says your oldest nickel found is a 1909V. Good haul. I just went through $80 in bank rolled nickels today. Oldest I found was a '40.

Ah, crystal clear CC.

Well, I bought these nickels from a dealer, so technically they weren't pulled from circulation, and my signature deals only with circulation finds, i.e. roll hunting or change. Hope that cleared things up a bit TJ.

Nothing wrong with caving in. Fun is where you find it.

Congratulations, as an occasional nickel roll searcher myself I know the feeling. Other than the silver War Nickels which I don't expect but am pleasantly surprised when I see them there are still a number of early dates that elude me.
