I agree with all the opinions here and it sounds like you do too, edgman -- Dansco (or at least some other quality album) for sure! And yes, check flea markets, coin dealers, and bullion shops for used Danscos. I've gotten most of mine for 5 bucks or so each.

I started off with the theory that I'd do Danscos only for BU/Proof collections and folders (thumb busters) for collections from circulation. Well that went out the window in a hurry. Partly due to the fact that I am in/out of my circulation albums way more frequently than the BU/Proof ones, partly because I like the pages of an album vs the tri-fold of a folder, partly becuase the coins are just nicer to look at in an album than a folder (and you get to view both sides), partly because albums look better on a shelf, partly because albums offer better protection of the coins, etc.

I use the Whitman Classic albums in addition to Danscos. I actually like the text on the spines of those better than the script of the Danscos. At this time my Danscos are still for my BU/Proofs and The Whitman Classics are for circulated. It's all a matter of personal preference, I guess.

Have fun and post some pics when you get your album!

I have a complete Jefferson nickel set minus the 1950d. All of them I found in circulations within the last year and a half. So I paid a nickel a piece for them, not a beautiful set at all. however, it is housed in a dansco album. I don't worry about the album price, it is a nice presentation and lets me enjoy looking at my coins more. Also keeps them safe :)

Aside from flea markets, garage/yard sales, coin stores, hobby shops, used book stores, you may also want to try Salvation Army and/or Goodwill stores.

Especially when the value is beyond monetary.
