First Time Searching Halfs - Coin Community Forum

MacCoins Valued Member United States 96 Posts	Posted 10/25/2012 5:24 pm I bought ten rolls of halfs on a whim and ended up with (1) 1968 half and a slug of bicentennial halfs. So, is one silver per ten rolls about standard? Also, is nearly 15% bicentennial also common? Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

The only other Cu-Ni clad whose mintage exceeds both the 1976-P and 1976-D is the 1971-D (you will see a lot of those as well). I am fond of saying that one silver find is better than none, so good job. I'm now over 3 dozen boxes (1800+ rolls) as well as many hundreds of dollars worth of unboxed rolls and loose halves, and I'm still looking for silver #1. I'm not sure how many others have my kind of luck, but I hope not too many. Congrats on your good luck! And, look forward to lots of those bicentennials - they're one of the biggest mintages. Like Freddy mentioned, you may go through a couple thousands dollars in halves and not find a silver. I've personally skunked through $5500 and not find one, but did find a couple proofs.
