Stopped in one of my local banks on main st. today to get some rolls of dimes to poke through. As usual I also asked the teller if she had any half's and or ike's etc. She gave me two rolls of half's. Both rolls were in brown wrappers as well as having a small "S" written in ink by hand just below the $10.00 mark on the wrapper. noticed it when I got out to my truck. Decided to open the half's then and leave the dimes for later. First roll was all 40% silver. 1967's and one 66. Decent ones also. Second roll were all 64's including one D mint. All Unc's and a few better than others. Did not find later on one single silver dime in the $200.00 plus face value that I got. This time I could of cared less about that. After finding the half's I decided to back into the bank as I was parked right there anyway and ask the teller if she was the one who took the half's in. She said yes, so I asked if the same person who had brought them in brought in any other coins. A No on that. I always go back and ask that. It has payed off big over the years by finding a cache of cents, nickels, dimes quarters and half's etc. when just hitting one roll of a certain denomination. I have been pretty lucky with a lot of 64 half's here in Mass. over the years but rarely find a D mint. If it's a nice Unc. i keep it.

Thats so many half dollars - what will you do with them all? Perhaps sending a few across the pond for us UK lot would be good *cough cough*...

What was weird is that she stated that it was a local Co. that dropped them off to cash in. I know by experience that there are lot's of Co's, schools, vending machine Co's etc. that bring in rolled coin on a regular basis. Those are usually no go's as far as silver. I go to that bank along with about 12 others every week so I may ask her about the Co. :) Be nice to hit just 2 rolls like that a week.

WOW !! That's nothing less than staggering. I'm now over 3 dozen boxes of halves and more hundreds of dollars worth of unboxed rolls and loose halves than I can remember and I'm still looking for silver #1, so your story reads like a fantasy dream come true to me. I'm still plugging and still hoping for a find like yours someday.

I think that's the key word here "Plugging/Away" One has to keep at it every week. I know it is somewhat time consuming for those that go from bank to bank etc. like myself but you can always set aside a half hour a day somewhere I'm sure. Not going into it now but this last find is like #4 down on the list of best ever as far as half finds for me. One was $90.00 face value. All silver. 4 rolls 90% rest 40% U'mm, found two more 40%er's today in one roll and one silver roo's in some other dime roll's. Sorry A teller told me something interesting (by the way I only search customer wrapped bank rolls) Might try buying a few boxes for kicks though one day or do the fed/brinks ones. Anyway, She told me that many people seem to bring in more rolled coin just before any of the major holidays then at any other time of the year. Not always set in stone but it ups the odds some anyway. Guess they need some quick cash. Guess I'm kind of addicted to CRHing. Been doing it long before it was even called that :) You learn little tips and tricks along the way the more that you do it. If I have a full day I can have a ball and roll hunt, metal detect and even get in some fishing and or hunting all in the same day. Heck of a lot better than actually working for a living :)

Forgot to add. I also ask all of the tellers at ea. bank/credit union if I can look at any half's that they may have in their coin trays. Overall I have found more this way than from rolls over the years.
