What you like is what you like! I personally love both designs; the Morgan has an overall eye appeal that I love even after some wear, while the Peace has a reverse I dislike (sorry, that eagle is ugly) but a more beautiful, younger Liberty; I take the expression on her face as looking toward the possibilities of the future with wonder, awe, maybe even a little bit of fear in that moment before she gathers her courage and jumps in. While the Morgan is beautiful, I dislike how over the years the face of Liberty grew complacent, much as Americans did--"we're American, therefore we are blessed, and the reason we are blessed is because we're American, and that's all there is and that's all that matters"--as though liberty is not a thing that must be protected, honored, and cherished. The younger, more expressive Liberty looks more "American" to me in the sense of truly appreciating the potential of American life, instead of taking it for granted.

I love both, in the past I have kind of leaned towards Morgan's but recently I bought a higher grade Peace dollar and it is absolutely beautiful. More are in my future. But as another member said it only matters what appeals to you. Good luck!

With so many date/MM examples readily available at prices that are easily affordable for most, it's hard not to collect both. I'm a bigger fan of the Morgan dollar over the Peace dollar, but that's just my preference. I do have both collections in progress with more activity in the Morgan arena because of a VAM bite about a year ago. What it comes down to though is collect whatever sparks your interest as there is no wrong series to collect. Most of all enjoy the hunt and the rewards.

Put me in the Peace loving category. That Morgan dude is one ugly chick.

......but at the same time, my most cherished coin is an 1896 Morgan me dear old Grandma left me. She would get it out of an old dresser drawer and unwrap it to show me whenever I asked and told me she would leave it to me as it was left to her on her birth in 1896.

I prefer Peace dollars over Morgans. Lady Liberty is very attractive, love the slightly parted lips; while the Morgan looks like an unattractive guy. I do like Morgans overall though because they are the Classic American Silver Dollar. I'm always quite surprised when people say they don't like the Peace design.

I have a lot of morgans and very few Peace dollars in my collections so I probably have not had enough focus on them to truly appreciate the series. I like the design of the obverse better, but as people have stated the frequency of weak strikes seems to take away from them sometimes. I do like that they are a shorter and less challenging series to collect and it doesn't have as many problems with altered or forged coins like the morgans are currently plagued with though.

Here's as common a date as they come. Just a bit tougher in MS65+ as this one graded.

To all you Morgan haters...SHUN the non believers! Shun! Shun! (Who knows what that is from?) Seriously though, I love Morgans. I will likely never have a complete set, but I love them dearly. But then, I love the Peace dollars as well. And the Trades, and the Seated and the Draped Bust and the Ikes...I simply like all the large dollars. Over all they are my favorite denomination. But if I was forced to choose between the two under discussion, as much as I do like the Peace, I would have to go with Morgans.

But how do you not love a beauty like this eh? And the Peace dollar will unfortunately never have THIS beauty mark... That wonderful double crescent mark on the reverse. *sigh*

Smokerider, you got it wrong. It's "Shun the nonbeliever! Shun! Shun! Shuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnah." "Yeah, whatever." (Don't come between me and my Charlie the Unicorn.)
