Found my 30x loupe. Can see what you are talking about now, although I also think I am getting a headache from staring through it...note to self, learn how to properly use a loupe. :)

Anyway, small circular lines forming small patterns on the faces of the coin. Can't see it with the naked eye, but with the loupe once you see them, there they are. Thanks artdio.

30x would give anyone a headache.

10X is all that's needed.

The surface should look like it's full of very small ruts or grooves.

These give the coin the look of a high lustre.

Remember a whizzed coin 'looks good from far, but is far from good'.
