WOW! I guess the major give away on this would be the color is all wrong for a coin in that shape!

Maybe the 'whizzing' process (whatever that is:) creates a bit of heat and giving the coin a burnished look. I do have some graded pennies with unique colouring too. Look at the many, many 100+ year old pennies that are graded MS like they are new off the roll. Probably these are dipped though.

trimble whizzing is when they take a very fine wire brush or other type stuff to go in a rotating manner.. it is an attempt to make it look like luster..

Really hard to tell with those photos what exactly I am looking at. When you get to 50 posts, you can contact me and then send me high resolution photos. Thanks for posting! --SPP

I don't see any glaring evidence of whizzing, but without actually being able to examine it under a loupe (ideal), high res photos would be the next best thing to determine if the coin has been doctored...

If I'm correct trimble stated that ICCS returned it as whizzed so even looking aat it in hand would not change that...

Thanks BmOney, didn't see the previous thread... So ICCS says this coin is whizzed, eh? Hmmm.... Would love for some of the seriously learned folks on here to be able to examine it and render their respective determinations...

trimble under magnification can you see any circular hair lines If so then this would be why they said this....Judging from the pics I cannot see any but a coin in hand is always better.... Take a real close look at it
