I'm with Warren on this. What a wonderful way to show off our coins whether we get any votes or not. Generally, my coins are middle of the road to "bottom feeder" coins. But I'm proud of what I have just the same. How many of us are there who are regulars on this forum? Twenty-twenty-five maybe? How many people do you know who in your "real" life have ever held a 2000 year old coin and marveled at it's very existence? I want to see them all. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Don't get me wrong. I really love my coins and that they are incredibly old. I also worked fairly hard to come up with the money to purchase my coins as I'm sure others have as well. Not to mention surfing the net and being patient until the right coin(s) comes along for the price. Well, not always so but I try to find decent coins as best as I can.

I think Warren is correct as well. I'm just saying how it is sometimes. Maybe others feel in a similar way?

Dont feel bad people...

I have large numbers of modern coins from all over the place and realised that these didn't bring me too much satisfaction. Which is why when I started on Ancients I decided that I would concentrate on quality rather than quantity... in comparison with some people the coins I choose are nothing special as they have fantastic and expensive coins and my collection is very small compared to the seasoned veterans like yourself.

So when I enter I will enter two coins that you have probably seen me post before and I probably wont win either but thats not the point.

These smackdowns are always interesting, you never know what you might see that will give you ideas what to go after for your own collection.

Yes, David you are right 100%-
The true honor is to be able to post a coin, in itself, I want to see all of them the good the bad and the ugly as Bing put it. While searching on wild winds I have seen quite a few of the fabulous and unmistakable hand pics from our very own Dionysos' collection, His "most" fabulous Thasos tet, and that Helios tet, (Thats right, I saw that one too). I have no problem "losing to these coins" he helps me pick stuff out! For me it is a true honor to be in the company of others with the same passion as me, who when I post something might actually care, and to be in the company of those who know more, in many case much more then me. Gil keep posting your coins,....I am still making out my shopping list. OK back to figuring out what helmets to loose with!
