I see, thanks JW Difficult subject to police on a family friendly ancient coin forum, well all know how much the ancients (particularly the Greeks) enjoyed a good nude Guess I'll shelve my proposed new thread on 'Spintria tokens - I'll show you mine if you show me yours'.

When I was playing defense attorney for steve6x, that was one of my arguments. Should we not show things like Spintria tokens because they are too graphic for some people's taste?

The Greeks/Romans did love a nude (and nothing wrong with that in my opinion since the human body is only natural; I find it strange how American culture is so prudish with regards to nudity yet so accepting of violence which is almost the opposite of English culture...I deviate)
In general Roman/Greek culture was viceral and coarse, I was watching the show "Sparticus; Blood and Sand" and while I am accepting of swearing, sex and violence on TV I was surprised how far they went in order to depict the nature of ancient culture.
Anyway Steve I am sure you will receive a warm welcome when you return and have something new to show us so keep your chin up old bean!

I'm a YN.
My opinion is that if it is classical and displays nudity, it doesn't matter... Stop being so scared of human bodies and violence!
Can't wait till you're back Steve!

I liked the series as well. The last season is coming out soon!! I can't wait for the ending.
I took some snaps of the coins that were used as props on the show. I may start a thread later on to see if anyone knows what coins they were supposed to be modeled after. Assuming that no one minds.

Thanks, it's one of my favorite coins. I only wish it had it's original patina. I hope I live long enough to see it's second original patina.
I thought about leaving it outside over the winter and turning it every week, but I don't know if this would be a good idea or not.

No. Leave it as is, Doucet! It will oxidize over the years I wouldnt do anything to accelerate the process. Just my opinion...
