jsinger21, SilverBug and Silveroid, Thanks for posting your coins. They look spectacular to me! Silveroid, I'm not surprised to see that there is no difference between coins ordered back in November and those from February or later. Even though the wait times for shipping were often reversed, it appears this has no significance on quality. Hopefully this will put to rest (although I doubt it will), the persistent speculation on various coin forums that there was a vast conspiracy on the part of the RCM and their network of dealers to "cherry pick" the best coins for themselves.

ksimms3 says he is "still waiting for mine! lol"
At least you are able to maintain your sense of humour about this. I hope you get it this week!

althought the coin looks ok to me after long waiting, I'm still not satisfied with their customer service. I asked them to ship these gold coins to my US address. my first $10 was shipped there but the $5 was not, somehow they lost this shipping request after the delay, so I paid extra $60 for this coin. what a mess

Another example of the RCM's poor customer service, SilverBug. I hope you demand a reimbursement for the extra costs you had you pay. You shouldn't have to suffer because of careless incompetence.

Partially in the interests of extending this thread and upping my count, I got two more coins graded by ICCS, however my scanner doesn't pick up their glory properly. The 1914 $10 PS came back ICCS MS 63, while the 1913 $10 HS came back ICCS MS 62. My other 1913 is a PS at MS63 and is marginally nicer than the MS62. In the words of my son, the 1913 PS has deeper, but fewer contact marks than the MS62 and possibly nicer luster, but you really have to study both coins for awhile to determine any difference in eye appeal. Since I have two 1913 $10, I am making the ICCS MS62 available. Here is a link in the 'grading' forum with pics: https://goccf.com/t/150841

I finally received my $5 1914 coin. There are enough marks on both side (especially George V side) to keep it in 62-63 range. I'm ok with the coin. However, the capsule that's holding the coin was cracked (two cracking line cover the side of George V side). I've called the mint to ask about sending it back to get the capsule replace, the rep said I can do that and gave me an RMA number. However, I am worry and not sure if they will replace the capsule and return the coin to me, instead of cancelling my order.
Another option that I am not so sure would work either is to ask them to send me a replacement capsule for the coin; however, I am not sure if peeling off the double seals will work.
What would you guys do?

It's unfortunate, SA4H that it took so bloody long for you to receive the coin and it ends up with a cracked capsule. I would be very upset. However, I think your only alternative if you want to keep the coin in its proper RCM packaging is to send it back. You won't be able to put the holograms onto a replacement capsule, they're too fragile and will probably tear when you try to take them off the damaged one. Also I doubt if you could get them to stick properly even if you could. It would be a good idea to take some photos of both sides of the coin and to make sure your package is signed for. Also I would include a note asking that your coin be returned to you in the shortest amount of time possible. And after a week or two of the mint receiving it, I would not hesitate to keep calling them until you know it has been shipped back to you. Please let us know how it turns out. Good luck!

SA4H, Its awful that it took more than 6 months for you to get the coin. I got mine about 3 weeks ago.
I received a Venetian Glass butterfly coin with a small crack on the side. I phoned the Mint and got a RMA number and returned it to them. I sent a note along with the coin requesting them to replace the capsule if they had no more butterfly coins.
So today I got the coin back. It is a brand new coin with a new COA.
I don't know what they will do with the 1914 $5 coin. Do they have stock to replace it? Or just replace the capsule? Or a refund?

MoneyPenney, I'm quite sure that the mint will install the same coin in a new capsule with the proper seals attached. The big question is how long will the whole process take before SA4H has his coin back. SA4H, stay on the case to ensure a speedy return to you!

Update: I received my replacement $5 1914 coin about two weeks ago. They sent a new coin (not as good looking, condition wise, but it's OK since I'm just saving it for my kids. However, I haven't heard anything from RCM regarding them refunding my return shipping cost. I guess I will have to call them. On a side note: The IRS and California Board still own me some tax refund money.... my CPA suggested that I should just wait (but that was 3 months ago).... I guess I have to contact these agencies....

Quote: Sad, I still haven't received my PHS 1914 $5 gold coin The worst RCM delay that I ever heard. There were longer delays, but for new issues. Looks like sales (or other) department waits a thinks - "where from to buy coin back and send it to the customer?"
