How do you know if you have a Mint rep? I am looking for a 1912 $5 gold coin and would love to get one from the Mint. Could I phone the Mint and just order a out of stock gold coin?

Are these "extra" 1912~1914 coins "returned"/"refused" by dealers because not looking good (e.g. more bagmarks/damage)?

Did it day before yesterday. But no results - the rep was very nice, saying that all "these gold coins have been re-distributed (sold) "

Not likely. All sales are final. No returns or exchanges.

I suspect they are cancellations. I just got word that my coin will ship in 10-15 days (ya right). That's 2 or 3 more weeks of waiting and a 50/50 chance that it will be longer. Given the recent drop on Au spot, the coin is become less and less attractive and I am considering cancelling too.

I'm really getting sick of the shipping delays on coins that were minted in the last century. Ridiculous.

And the penny roll is 2-4 weeks backordered. How the heck do you have a backorder on something minted nearly a year ago?!?

@Panda: These coins are most likely buyers that wanted to get in on the coins, but subsequently as the Mint re-entered the credit card numbers when they were ready in late January/early February, they got declined. The Mint then sends a letter in the mail informing the buyer that their credit card was declined, and that they have 21 days or so to pay for the order. Once those days pass, coins are back on their inventory. I would not be surprised that there was a very good number of buyers declined...Ie Christmas spending, etc.

That is what my rep said. There are a handful left in inventory. You just need to speak to the right person.

It most likely depends on the timing. I was talking about a month ago with my MC rep, and mentioned I was missing the 1912 $5 ( I had already ordered the 1914 and 1913). He said he would look around and see if he could find any left in stock or cancellations, even though they were officially sold out. Must have been my lucky day on those.

I highly doubt the coins will be shipped when RCM reps say they will. I have NEVER received mine when they've said I would. I hope gold doesn't drop any further or I'm going to have to cancel my order. As to the final minting of the penny, they should already be in my hand. Total B.S.

Does anyone have any pictures of the premium selected coins either in $5 or $10 denominations?

I feel bad... Ever since my "Alberta comes last" comment I've been getting things first.... Maybe they spin a bottle!

According to the PCGS population report, none of the Gold Reserve coins has graded below MS-62. These coins look MS-63 and above. So far no one has posted bad pictures of the coins. And everyone worried in the beginning thought they will be crappy coins.
