even with gold falling they were still over priced to begin with, now they are just a little more over priced. Today's gold price really won't matter in 5 years. it only matters today if you were planning on flipping your coins.

The Mint is closed now, but I will give it a shot tomorrow in ordering one of the $5 gold coins.

Here's an interesting update. I went online to the RCM website to check my orders and I noticed that my 1912, 1913, and 1914 $5 hand select $5 gold pieces were shipped out. Less than 2 weeks since I ordered. I get the impression that the RCM has cleaned up their act. Now I can expect a credit card charge of close to $1,800 for my 3 coins. I don't know what I'm more shocked about. Getting 3 coins after they were sold out over 2 months later or receiving confirmation that they are mailed out less than 2 weeks since I ordered them.

I ordered in the first few hours and haven't received anything yet.
Last come first served is NOT cleaning up an act. It is disastrously bad customer service.

i dont buy the "dropping price of gold" ideas or the thought that they were overpriced to begin with ideas.... these seem to be unreasoned emotional concepts that dont stand up to any hard analysis. I think the main reason for the cancellations is the sheer length of time it has taken for the RCM to ship em out and that has left a lot of folks too much time to rethink their credit card purchases....That and the fact that we just dont know how to deal with an offering of this magnitude. Not since the sixties and the CC USA Dollar offering has the public received an opportunity like this and we just dont know how to deal with it. We are receiving all these fairytale coins ....fresh from mint bags stored in a secret vault for 100 years and all that. Coins that normally sell for thousands of dollars are being sold for a grande or half that...and this during a recession when most folks are short of cash and heavily indebted so we are almost forced to take on more debt to buy these irresistable gems before someone else does..We love and hate the RCM at the same time...This is the reason for the mixed reactions..these are expensive coins and unlike the CC release they are not 50 buck coins..So cheer up and get em if and while you can! cos pretty soon they will be all gone and the game of musical chairs will be over....and like the CC dollars the prices will steadily increase....

How are these 1912-1914 gold coins are over priced when RCM is selling new 1/4 oz gold coins like the Arctic Fox for $650? Or the 1/4 oz baseball gold coin for $900.00? The 1912-1914 $5 gold coins have the same 1/4 oz of gold for only $500.

I tried to convince my wife to go. She hates coins. That's her only flaw.
