Excellent gold coin, Silverskunk. It would be nice to own a little gold but I've never been willing to pay the price. When I look at a gold coin for sale I immediately do the math to see how many pure silver coins I could buy with the money. The ASE is still my favorite coin to collect partly because it is the coin that started my silver coin collection. I've mentioned before that the 1 oz silver Libertad is one of my favorites along with the Britannia and the Swan.

Picked up a collectable bullion piece I have wanted for a while, a NORFED Liberty Dollar. For those not familiar with these (see https://norfed.info/ for the full story): "The NORFED Liberty Dollar is a private currency that was produced by the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve Act and Internal Revenue Code (NORFED), an organization that advocated for a return to a precious metal-based monetary system and opposed the scam that is fractional banking and the Federal Reserve System. The Liberty Dollar was designed to be used in everyday transactions, and the value of the currency was meant to reflect the current market value of the metals backing it, which could make it more stable than fiat. The goal of the Liberty Dollar was to offer a currency that would be inflation-resistant and provide a viable alternative to the worthless currency issued by the United States government. However, the U.S. Government argued that the Liberty Dollar was illegal and could lead to confusion with the official U.S. currency, potentially defrauding consumers. In 2007, the U.S. Mint issued a warning stating that the use of Liberty Dollars as circulating money was a federal crime. On November 14th, 2007 FBI and Secret Service agents simultaneously raided the NORFED office in Evansville, Indiana and Sunshine Mint in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They seized all gold, silver, platinum, computers, files, documents, dies for gold and silver specie, and then froze NORFED's bank accounts." I may need to try to get the other dates and denominations when they are available.

Nice double eagle Wheatback! Quite scarce compared to many other dates (and downright rare in MS) but likely priced at bullion value in lower circulated grades.
I follow this strategy as well, looking for scarce-date gold at whatever circulated grade brings the price into near-bullion range.

I love that 2017 100 coin, amazing design! I really like some of the modern designs for gold coins.

@Jaobler
I was able to get it under spot price. Of course it's dropped now, but I would buy another at the same price. I stash it away instead of cash just sitting!
