First, back story: It's required to at least have a minimum meal plan at my college, so I eat at my school cafeteria a few times a week. I always check the cup they have for "take a penny leave a penny" for wheats but never find any. I decided to bring it up casually with some of the tellers and see if they would hold some out for me. Sure enough they are. Today I got my first! The lady that goes by "D" saved me a 53 S Wheat. Nothing special, but I believe I didn't have the S of that year yet. This is the first of many! I will be in this program for about 3.5 years (year round) so I will hopefully get some nice coins in the meantime! Glad I could make make some friends and start adding to my collection! It's been insanely busy here at my school, so no time to CRH! My uncle has been doing this for years. The gas station across the road from his house has cashiers that save him wheats. That's what gave me the idea! Anyone else do this? Edited by Broseph 12/04/2012 8:11 pm

No, but that is a great idea. Any connection you can make for finding coins helps.

It is a great idea, problem for me is that everyone and their brother asks for coins today, especially silver. At all my banks, gas stations, convenience stores, etc, ya just gotta get in line and hope for the best.

It is always nice to have some help on the inside. My best finds came when I was dating a bank teller, who would set aside things for me.

Man, I have seen some cute bank tellers. If I was single, I would have a girlfriend at every bank.

lol, funny thing is I could never get my wife to search when she was cashiering. Now she has a potential job as a teller, making $4 MORE an hour, and she doesn't want it!!

Yeah! I want her to get the higher pay... plus the thought of her bringing home silver... that would be great!

A win-win. I do not see the problem.

It's complicated I guess. She changed jobs a few months ago when we moved, then again when a better job opened up. The current one is with friends of the family, so leaving their leather shop is sort of leaving them out to dry. They are business people and understand. They simply can't pay her that wage, and the idea of a job is money (job=/= career, which may be more for fulfillment)
So I'm still hoping they will get back to her about the job

Ah, I understand. Well, probably best to let this one play out on its own, and support her decision. However, we can still dream, right?
