I'm left with the impression that this coin had a chemical encounter which it unfortunately did not win.

It had an encounter of the bad kind all right! What is on the reverse near the bottom, tree sap or glue? This coin would have to go for spot or real close to it for me.

Those spots at bottom reverse did seem like something stuck on top of the surface. One overlies the D

I think there was a nice coin under all that at one time tho

Looking at this sellers other offerings, all I see are junk, poorly cleaned too.
