Quote: Denali 1,156,860 It's interesting that the Denali has the lowest number minted and yet it is the only one still available at the mint! I don't know, maybe it's not that interesting Dave

The Denali figure is not final, it's for sales as of last Thursday. Denali-S bag sales, however, are final at 7,025.
Also, the Acadia roll figure is the last reported sales to date (last Thursday, when rolls were still available), so the final Acadia rolls figure will go up a bit.

I have no inside information but IMHO, the 40 coin Rolls of 2012 "S" BU Denali ATB Quarters will be a "Thing of the Past" offering from the USM soon. Might it be a low mintage compared to the other 2012 "S" Quarters that are Sold Out ?

At the first week of January, I was going to all all five of the S-quarters rolls but they sold out the El Yunque... at that time, ebay were struggle to sell for $20 to $25 per roll. Only after the sudden end of other 2012 Mint product has the El Yunque 40-coins S roll price double. Luckily, I've order multiples of the other rolls, hoping to trade for my missing El Yunque S roll in a latter date.

Is it correct that each 2012 S ATB Quarter has a lower mintage going back to the 1932 D & S quarters ? Interesting.

I picked up each of the "S" mint business strike quarter from my local coin shop at .50 each. I think this is a good deal and I might go back and get some more.

So being new to the game, I am curious on how this typically works. Obviously since these quarters are selling out, if not sold out already, they are already getting a premium price.
How does this normally work...will the demand continue to grow for these (thus making them a good investment) or does it usually peak right away because of everyone knowing they are selling out and in a short time, the hype will fade with the demand and the price of them will go down.
I am curious as both a potential buyer and seller.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks.
Dave

Okay, here's the tally so far for the 2012-S business strike ATB Quarters. (I see HOLLYWOOD already has this posted but thought I would distill it down to just these): 2012-S El Yunque - 1,680,140 2012-S Chaco Culture - 1,389,020 2012-S Acadia - 1,305,600 2012-S Hawaii Volcanoes - 1,379,040 2012-S Denali - 1,156,860 They are quite rare. They've minted fewer of these than the 2012 P or D Kennedy half dollars. Guess I'll start buying these by the 100 bag in 2013.

I'd say a bit of both. If the Mint continues the circulation-finish "S" Quarters through to 2021, the 2012's will be the key date. If the "S" Quarters are included in the Circulating Coin Sets from 2013 onward, their mintages will inevitably be higher (maybe around 4 million each?), and collectors who want just the five individual coins will be able to get them directly from the Mint (rather than having to buy individual coins in the aftermarket). As I said previously, the big factor in favor of the 2012's was their being sold by the Mint only in bags and rolls. Quote: Buying all five varieties of 2012-S Quarters directly from the Mint required a minimum purchase of 200 coins, $18.95 per roll x 5 for a total of $94.75. A much bigger investment than $9.95 or so for getting all five 2013-S varieties in the new 2013 Circulating Coin Set. Of course, many people recouped their $174.75 five-bag investment (and then some!) by opening the bags and selling individual coins, but guess what that did to the unopened bag population? Collector demand for individual 2012-S coins had to be filled by those who opened bags or rolls. Now, collectors who want individual coins will be able to get them in the Circulated Coin Set, greatly reducing the need to open bags or rolls. Thus, reducing the demand for 2013-up "S" rolls as compared to 2012. Prices might settle down a bit on 2012-S rolls in the next couple of years, but if the 2013-2021 "S" Quarters all have higher mintages, and are available as individual coins in Circulating Coin Sets, the 2012-S Quarters will be keepers.
