Quote: I've never been a big fan of the gold plated coins... Not many fans of gold-plated coins here on CCF. At least those 12,500 "S" Quarters HSN ruined by plating them make ours even rarer... Makes me wonder if a quick dip in MS70 Solution would get that plating off? One time, I used Brasso polish on a gold-plated State Quarter, and it took the plating right off, but the coin looked polished when done (of course!).

I just checked the US Mint website and found that the 2012-S Acadia roll has sold out leaving only the 2012-S Denali rolls still available. I thinking, that now would be the time to order the Denali's if you have not already.

The Acadia-S rolls showed Sold Out on the Mint's website the morning of Jan. 15th. Notice the invoice date in this picture. January 14th. The Quarters lens was posed on top of my PL5 box. I might leave this Acadia-S roll in the box, since it was Sold Out before it even got to my house!

DNA, I am taking it you are presuming the S mint quarters will be in the circulating set? Because I did not see anything saying it was. Or did I just miss it in the list?

From Mint News Blog: Quote:Looking ahead, the US Mint will be offering circulating quality 2013-S America the Beautiful Quarters. In addition to the individual 40-coin rolls and 100-coin bags, a new product type will be a three-coin set which includes the "P", "D", and "S" mint mark Their inclusion in the 2013 Circulating Coin Set is still a rumor, but the three-coin Sets above will allow circulation-finish 2013-S Quarters to be purchased individually from the Mint.

The Denali "S" ATB Quarter rolls are on backorder as of yesterday, 1/19/13. The shipping date on the USM website shows 2/4/13. I suggest that the final few coins are to be rolled and boxed in the meantime. The End is close !!

The Denali are on backorder? Does that mean they already stopped minting them and are minting more because of demand?

Its possible, they also could have just not finished minting the others or are behind minting them with the ASEs and other things coming out their efforts could have been focused elsewhere

They're not minting any more 2012 Quarters, but it is highly likely that the last batch of Denali-S Quarters needs to be rolled and boxed. The PL5 Acadia-S box shipped to me on Jan. 14th is dated 06/25/12, by the way... San Francisco Mint started production of 2013-dated coins in December. When the 2012 Presidential dollar Proof Set sold out in mid-December, the Mint may have not been able to strike more of those, because they had already started on the 2013 coins (bullion ASE's, the 2013 Birth Set and the 2013 ATB Silver Proof Quarters have already been released this month). This in turn may have led to the sell-outs of the 2012 Clad/Silver Proof Sets, because the full Sets include the Presidential dollars. The sell-out of the Presidential Set was a clue we all missed, apparently... And, of course the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set would be a perfect way to use up a batch of leftover 2012 Silver JFK's and Dimes...

Well darn. With any luck there won't be a ton of sales of the three piece sets.

These P-D-(Clad Proof)S three-coin Sets haven't exactly set the world on fire (seeing as how it's much cheaper to get all the year's coins in a Clad Quarters Proof Set and a Circulating Coin Set), but a three-coin P-D-(circulation-finish)S Set priced lower than the P-D-(Clad Proof)S Set has some potential. I don't think circulation-finish "S" Quarters will go much above 4 million a year, new Sets or not, as long as they stay NIFC. But any option allowing collectors to buy individual circulation-finish "S" coins directly from the Mint will reduce the demand for "S" bags and rolls in the secondary market.

Honestly, I want the mintages to stay low on these for completely selfish reasons. I rather like the idea of snagging future keys/semi keys as they come out. Not to mention it hurts sales if the mint too many. LOL

The Denali ATB "S" quarter rolls MS are still available from the USM at the moment. Shipping is now delayed until 2/5/13.
