Just checked my order status on the Mint website, ordered 20 rolls late Saturday, it's showing 11 rolls in stock and reserved and the other 9 rolls as backordered!

I'm wondering what's the final mintage for the Denali -S. With the price surge of the previous design lead to a surge in last minute order of the Denali -S, I won't be surprised if its mintage is highest of the 5 design (2012 coins).

The Denali "S" Unc. quarter's final mintage IMO will come in around the 1.4 million similar to the mintages of 2nd-4th "S" issues. This item was the last to be offered and the general hobby may not even realize that these coins even exist. It will be interesting if an album is offered that contain these 2012 and on S" quarters. That is my take.....

Quote: the general hobby may not even realize that these coins even exist. More people will be aware of the 2013-S Quarters, because of the expanded selection of products containing them. "Bags & Rolls only" distribution kept the 2012-S's under the radar of many, but the new three-coin circulation-finish P-D-S Quarter Sets and possible inclusion of "S" Quarters in the 2013 Circulated Coin Set will inevitably raise their profile. This could be good news for those who have the 2012-S Quarters, because more people who missed them might find out about the 2012-S's and want to buy them, increasing demand.

The Final Mintage Figures for the Business Strike 2012 "S" ATB Quarters are in. All USM Bags/Rolls are "SOLD OUT". The lowest mintage was the Chaco Quarters at 1,391,020 coins. Next, Denali at 1,402740. Hiwaii and Acadia tied at 1,409,120. El Yunque came in as the highest mintage of a whopping 1,680,140. You Tell Me if these low mintage coins have a "Bright Future". Have a Great Day !!

They will if the general collecting public gets wind of them in the expanded 2013 offerings starting with a P/D/S 3-roll set for $46.95 on the 28th for the White Mountain release, followed perhaps by the circulating set with 5 additional quarters later in the year. There is a rumor going around that the 3-coin set for this year will have a S circulation quarter instead of the usual S clad proof. All of these will bring greater attention and focus to the scarce 2012-S quarters which pretty much flew under the radar for a lot of people because they are considered 'junk' clad. My local dealer was charging 75 cents per coin pre-sell out to $2.50 after sellout. Unreal.
@extraleafquarter: thanks for figuring out the total # coins sold.

The existing P-D-S three-coin Sets are Uncirculated finish P and D coins with an "S" Clad Proof. Since the non-Proof "S" Quarters are not "Uncirculated" strikes by the Mint's definition (struck on lower-speed presses with greater striking force), it would make more sense for the new three-coin Sets to be P-D-S circulation-finish Quarters. Mint News Blog's post stated the "S" Quarters will be in a new type of three-coin Set. The irony is that the BU "S" Quarters are of notably higher grade overall than P and D true business strikes, with S-coins' strike quality and appearance comparable to the Uncirculated Mint Set P and D Quarters. Suggesting their minting process is more equivalent to the Uncirculated P and D coins, whether the U.S. Mint admits it or not. Even if S.F. had the same high-speed presses as Philly or Denver, they wouldn't have to run as fast to produce the lower mintages (and it would be easier on the dies & machinery). The Mint may claim the BU "S" Quarters to be circulation-finish (as opposed to their standard of Uncirculated) because of different handling steps after production, and of course "circulation finish" coins are accepted as having more bag marks and hits...

According to the USM Rep., the backodered Denali "S" PL 9 mint rolls will be filled so that we receive the last coins that were ordered before selling out. That is always good news.

The USM has not shipped out many of the Denali "S" PL 9 Quarter Rolls/Boxes that were ordered during the time that the rolls went on backorder. The Denali "S" Quarters are the second lowest mintage of the five 2012 "S" ATB Quarters @ 1.402 M. None of the five 2012 "S" issues were high. Now, the first 2013 "P,D,S" Rolls are begin offered by the USM as of today. I would expect a greater mintage for these 2013's vs. the 2012's. Comments.

Kurrykid, it is simply my thought that as more ATB Quarter collectors find out that business strike "S" coins are available for the most of 2013 and that you can now order the P-D-S rolls as one USM product, collectors will want the 2012 BU "S" quarters that they were not even aware existed in 2012. Maybe a Dansco album may include all of the MS "S" quarters going back to 2012. Comments.

Point of Interset: My USM order box shows that a portion of my Denali "S" BU Rolls that were in stock have been shipped recently and the remaninder of the original USM order is still on backorder with an estimated shipping date. This suprised me !!

I expect the makers of coin albums and folders will revise their offerings to include the 2012 S business strike quarters. As far as I know there isn't anything available right now to display them as a set.
