Well now that my money order situation was settled, I have another problem. I bought a few silver coins from an ebay seller. Item was marked as shipped but I never received it. No one could have stolen from my mailbox because I have a key to open it. Where my package went, I have no clue. So what happens from here. Do I lose out on the money I spent, or does the seller have to give me a full refund? Seems like there is not a good option. I really don't want the seller to lose out on money if in fact he did ship the coins. However, I don't want to pay for something I never received. Someone here must have had this experience. So what happens next? Who loses?

It will depend, if there was tracking and it got lost ebay sometimes just gives you the money so neither of you are at fault. If tracking shows it was delivered you usually lose. If there was no tracking the seller will lose out on the money since he cant prove it was ever sent

Grr, it did have tracking and it says it was delivered to my address. the seller said he contacted the post office and all they did was say it was delivered. I guess i'll call my post office the next day they are open and see if they have it. Hope it turns up. It was only about $20 but still, losing that for nothing rubs me the wrong way.

If the Post Office claims it was delivered, you're pretty much out of luck.

Again, I think it's strange how I've never ever had a problem with USPS before... and 6 months living at my new address and this is the second package that was "delivered" but never found. I think I'm going to start having my packages sent to my moms house. This is annoying.
I'll call the post on tuesday and see if they can do anything. Usually they just look at the tracking number that I looked at and they say it was delivered. Well I contacted the seller. He said it looks like he will be out of luck and have to eat the cost. As much as that sounds like a good deal to me and I get my money back, I think I will offer to cut the cost in half with him. It wasn't either of our faults, so I think it would be fair for us to split it. At least it was pretty cheap.

If hes willing to eat it thats very nice of him. I had a package get stolen that was shipped internationally, pretty sure a guy at the airport snagged it when he saw what it was, the PO should check their internal tracking which is a little more detailed and may turn out someone was being lazy and scanned it before it really was delivered. Id still check with them on monday hopefully itll just turn up then though. Other than that someone either had to take it or it was put in the wrong mailbox by accident. Does anyone close to you have the same house/apartment number thats near by, I would check with them too if they do

It is extremely annoying that you have to put what the item is and the value on the outside of packages... To me it serves as a temptation to others...

Plus I hate receiving packages that say "collector coins" of it. I always use something not as obvious like plated planchet or metal sample.

Better to declare coins as "hobby supplies", rather than "coins". It helps to pack them tightly so that anyone who opens the envelope or package can't easily identify the contents as coins.

Yes, I would check your post office too. I had one package undelivered because it was short 20 cents shipping even though the package was weighed. Maybe one of the scales was off?

It is very kind of you to offer to split the loss. That says class!

And good news is the coins showed up today. Not sure how that happened. Tracking number shows it as being delivered on december 24th, and it finally shows up january 2nd. Someone really messed up there, but I'm glad the coins finally turned up.

Not trying to thread-jack, but I broke one of my own rules and sent a package to Ukraine back in late Nov 2012...needless to say...it never (or has not) arrived (yet). I sent him a total refund and I will not send anymore packages outside the U.S. (CCF members are not included in this statement) when it comes to ebay sales, which I am trying to wean off of.
