$10 a roll, available to MC first, hilarious. The "Royal" Canadian Mint, emulating private sector hypocrisy for over 50 years.

I still fail to see how anyone can justify Canadian coins being offered to the rich first. I am fine with a MC club, as long as no more than X percent of initial mintage is allowed for pre-sale, where X equals the percentage of total registered mint customers who are MC members. For example, if the mint has 10,000 registered customers, and 1000 of them are in the Master Club, then 10% of the initial available mintage should be allowed to the MC members, at strict limits of one item per member.

^^^^^^^

The Rich? What non-sense! I believe most coin collectors are NOT rich. It took me two years to become a master member.

It wasn't easy becoming a master member and I should not be limited to one item. What is the point of joining a club without some benefits?

Well Anjohl does have a good point. If I was a non MC member I would be very displeased if a coin sold out before it hit open release. The limit dealers on how many they can buy, why not a limit on pre-orders and then no limits when it goes public. Its not to much to ask and gives MC members the ability to buy a small quantity of a hot coin first but limits hoarders from cornering the market.

If you see today's photo, it looks more and more like it will be a roll of pennies. I hope not. :(

According to news reports back when the last penny was minted, it was stated that the last 1 million pennies would be used for a special mint product. If they were used for a "special" roll, then that would allow for a mintage of 20,000 for that particular product.

Numbers wise, it would seem more likely that a roll would be what it is rather than, say a last day card which may only contain 1 or 2 pennies.

Not sure whether Anjohl's post stating $10/roll available to MC members is based on inside knowledge or just speculation, but it is starting to look more and more like a roll is what it will be.

It wouldn't be the last million anyways, 999,999 to be exact because the very last one is in the coin museum.
Also they might only release a portion of the last day pennies and every 5 or 10 years bring out a new commemorative/remembrance set.

My guess is 50,000 - 100,000 penny sets this time around used with another coin to justify their high price.

Keep in mind this is just a guess ;)

My guess it's going to be a cash grab for the RCM. Some people might be right it might take months to receive the item once placed.

To be fair to the mint and to MC members, I don't know of any coin that was sold out before public release. The mint always has reserve for dealers, post office outlets, and public release. Yet some of us keep on telling themselves and everyone how unfair everything is every time some interesting coins being released. It's true that a few of us in this community have better access to the information, but to a great extend, the same information is made available one way or another to everyone. The distribution system is not perfect, that's for sure. Take the time like some of us do here, call up a few local CP outlets, or stay up a bit to catch releases on release days. Throwing out the same argument every time will certainly not get you any of the coins.

/rant end >_<

50 cent rolls don't sell out that fast, I'm pretty sure the bumble bee was available to everyone.

Most of the products were available, if you do not think too long.

That what happened with 50c roll for me - over-waited.

But in general - if you like it and you have the money to spend - buy it.

I just heard they will be selling each roll for 9,95$ and less than 20000 rolls. Does anybody know when the 2013 50 cent roll will come out?
