we Chinese looks alike, hard for people to figure who is who. :D. Kidding aside, It require less time to rob a store than trying to track down my post and figure where I live and how much silver I have and such.

On the subject of GPS tags - its very easy to get to those. I believe that its very bad to have such things on photos - down right fraudulent of phone making companies.
Its so easy to get to them, I decided it would be worth proving.. took all of five minutes. I found it quite shocking how easy it is. One of the first photos I tried bore a GPS tag corresponding to a house. I'm 17 and have no reason to be as stupid as to rob someone but it would be shockingly easy for a more malicious person to do. I'm sending them a PM with a little warning.
I suggest people invest a little time in removing some info from their JPEGs using third party software. A lot of it isn't much use - time the photo was taken, shutter speed and etc. Most dont have GPS tags - but if its from a phoen you need to take some extra care.

My camera doesn't have GPS, but I've heard the cameras that do have a way to turn of the tagging, so look into that. Phones I have no idea. I also have a separate pic hosting account just for this site and don't upload anything that would ID my location. I'd also probably never buy anything from anyone on a PM forum or use a PO box for the shipping address.

Most phones you can turn on and off the gps tagging on the photos. Just like any applications on your phone always say no when it asks for permission to access your phones information

A good dog; something able to cause lead poisoning always at arms length - but hopefully never have to; 24/7 someone home (also experienced with a device which can inflict lead poisoning); keeping anything valuable in the local bank vault; trained pygmies armed with poison dart blow-pipes; and a bumper sticker that reads, "Don't blame me for the mess, I voted for...." Oops - almost got political here OK, OK, I was exaggerating ... no bumper sticker I do have a friend with a very large, heavy, expensive safe in which he keeps his collection. The first time he opened it, I was a little surprised. The first thing I saw was the AR15 (slabbed by PCGS of course).

I am willing to bet anybody on here that got the wise idea to try and rob any of us good folk, good chance you would be walking into a bad situation for YOURSELF. We ALL got guns and dogs out the wazooo and most of us spend our free time thinking where you would not think to look for any valuables;).....
Not to mention booby traps, didn't even mention booby traps. Get your head snared up in a bear trap, and good chance you will reconsider your corner cutting plans, lol....

Booby traps are a good way to land you in jail, trespassing or not.

Sad but true. Government nanny mindset.
Funny, I thought I was the only one who had fun thinking of ways to make new hiding places.

Quote: Booby traps are a good way to land you in jail, trespassing or not. And/or civil court. But I recently saw an episode of Preppers where a guy had a way to tear gas his own house.

@silverhawk---I really like that "Security Briefs" product. They're reasonably priced at $8.99 on Amazon, but the $8.43 shipping charge turns it into a pretty stinky deal (ha,ha--get it?). But anyhow--who needs to buy an inferior knockoff when they've already got the authentic original?

the other thing is, that the IRS, has and will, when auditing someone, used pictures of their goods posted on the Internet, to make sure they havent skimmed on their taxes. Hope everyone is paying their taxes and capital gains :D
So, keep that in mind.
I still think its bad policy to post pics, no matter the guns, dogs, etc. IF they want in, and can track you down, they will.

OOPS.....
I think the little-league and bush-league thieves and robbers who wear masks and carry guns and knives just became inconsequential and the major-league thieves and robbers who wear suits and carry business cards and attache cases just became the #1 safety/security/anonymity problem that all the picture-posters need to worry about. Wow! Talk about a "game-changing post!"
Yup --- I think you may have just drained a lot of the satisfaction and ego gratification that come from posting pix of PM "hidden wealth"...
