Thought forum members would get a kick out of these two fake gold coins... the $5 is clear a novelty piece and the Eagle reminds me of a partridge. However, the $1 is a more serious attempt at a counterfeit. Both are very light and contain no gold.

The five dollar faux coin looks hand made. Folk art in my opinion. I like that sort of thing. Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm...I have seen "Hobo Nickels" and "Potty Dollars", I wonder if someone would use such a practice on actual gold coins?

there are many love tokens, so people did alter gold coins.
