Pretty nice profit for something that came free. Makes me think of putting my only one up for sale but then I wouldn't have one for my set.

Wow...I thought I made good money when I sold my box for $140 locally! Even with ebay fees, its likely the seller got $170 in hand!

I'm wondering what's the final total subscription number (ie: Total boxes issued). This number will be the key to determine the long term value of this set.
Disclaimer: I don't have any of this set yet.....

if the mint keep giving out the box with the first coin of a subscription, then they need some different kind of incentive to keep people staying ... like a bonus medallion or something that will only be sent to those who completed the subscription.

The boxes don't cost them much. They have been reducing the cost of the box over the past few years. With one $90 silver coin they will easily cover the cost of the box for the whole set. Don't forget when they say the box is worth $100 retail, that means it cost less than $25 to build and ship to Canada from where ever its built.
What they need to do is offer better boxes and sell a complete set, not subscriptions. A subscription is OK for a lunar set that comes out once a year, but the Group of Seven could have been sold as a complete set. They only sell the coins individually because is easier to sell one $90 rather than a $630 set. The UK mint has the best boxes but you have to buy the whole set.

if you were offered over 200.00 for this box wouldnt you sell it and replace it with another display system. I thought this go7 box was cheap looking.

It looks cheaper than the Penny set box. I wouldn't even pay $100 for it.

I think it's getting so much attention because it is so very specific to this set with each artist's name on it and the spot in the case for the COA's. Other boxes I've seen recently are more generic than this one and can be used for other coins/sets. Not this one. If you follow this set to completion and want to display it, it's going to look so much better with the box. Also, the box is easily the rarest piece of this set.
