Ostrogothic, Athalaric, 526-534 AD 17 mm. Wroth, plate 8, #21.  INVICTA ROMA DN ATHLARICVS, soldier standing right, X to left, small SC on either side, right hand on spear, left on shield at feet. The Ostrogoths were proud to refer to Rome.

Tribal coins #2: Hephthalite "White Huns" from the Kabul valley and Zabul, c. 475-576 AD 27 mm. "silver" but base. 3.30 grams with the Sasanaian die axis: 3:00. The "Napki Malka" series with the bust of Napki type with winged headdress surmounted by bull's head The reverse is a (Sasanaian type) fire altar with attendants, but, like this one, is usually very weak.

GOLD: Eng's Thasos, Thrace AR Tetradrachm-Coin is sooo chunky. Look at that!
SILVER: Augustus1's Ostrogothic, Athalaric- Wish I had one, such a great and historic piece.
BRONZE: Doucet - Castulo, Spain 2nd Century BC- A really Great looking coin. Fabulous type I would love to have in my collection.
Honorable mentions include, Bing-Lydia wow, Eng Tabaristan, I need one, and DUK-celtic stater this coin I considered for all 3 teirs but didn't know where to place, it such a great turn out. gold: bing's awesome hemiobol silver: eng's tetradrachum, the other coin was great also. bronze: VK's islamic coin, great color! very honorable mentions: doucet's sphinx coin and DUK's celtic stater! honorable mention: my 2010 dime from the american tribe.  seriously honorable mention to all the othe coins, lots of great ones. nice topic AN!

Yet another wonderful smackdown! I thanks all those who participated as well as those that spectated. This was fun we got to see alot of different coins from all over the world and stretching across all times and cultures. I consider this mission accomplished. Many of these coins posted I would love to have in my collection, and so I am on the hunt for new types.
