I will use the motel 6 as a standby I should have enough reward points to stay at the holiday inn At this moment I don't even know if I can make it August is a long way away. I won't know until mid July if I will be able to get the time off work. I am on my 6th week of my supposed two week job in Angola and there is not real end in sight. After this I have to go to Ireland then to south east Asia. This year is starting out a little too busy for me to be able to tell this far in advance.

Richard are you stay at the Motel 6? Remember that Rosemont is not Chicago. Actually several miles North-West of Chicago. True not many places in Down Town area for even cars. BUT, there are many places for all kinds of trucks on Roads in the area. Actually some of those suburbs are so full of semi's, sometimes it is a parking lot of trucks around some of those areas. I'll have to take a drive down some of the roads for parking in the area. If you do use that Motel 6, once there ask about some of the local cab/taxi companies. They are reasonable and for a few miles, might be cheaper than parking around the Convention Center. Must be more hotels/motels in the area. I know if you go a mile of so farther South, there are all kinds of places. I'll check them out in the next few days. Usually the farther from the airport, the cheaper the rates. And once a few miles South, so many restaurants could make you want to eat all day. I know there is a really big hotel/restauant on the corner of Manhiem Road and Irving Park Road. It's about 2 to 3 miles South to the Convention Center.

Another checking out on the Rosemont area produced this info today. 1. Across Lawrence Ave, South of the Convention Center, next to a gas station is a small mall with a Duncan Donuts, Subway restaurant, etc. 2. Further South on River Road, about 1 mile, is a Comfort Suites Hotel, 4206 N. River Road. 847-233-9000. $129/night 3. Next to that is a Rog's Restaurant at 4255 N. River Road. 4. Just past that, on a sort of side road is a New Budget Hotel. 847-678-6835. About $42/night. Not sure about that place though since they advertise an hourly rate. 5. For those that may want to drive a bit, Super 8 Motel @ 3160 N. River Road, in River Grove, Il. $55/night 6. For cheaper food, South of the Convention Center, about 2 miles on River Road, is Irving Park Road, or Route 19. Just past that New Budget Hotel is a small shopping mall with a Chinese Restaurant, Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Dairy Queen. Across the street is a Wendy's. All on Irving Park, Road, just West of River Road. 7. Lots of other restaurants on Irving Park Road also.
8. Back to going North of the Convention Center, on River Road, about 1 mile or less is a McDonalds almost on Higgins Road. 9. Going West on Higgins Road from River Road is a Village Pancake house, Deli & Subway shop. 10. Also, same area is a Giordanos Restaurant. 11. Starbuck across from there.
Nothing East of the Convention Center within easy findings.

I not sure Richard that's close to the airport and plane's going over is it not? I'm looking at the other Super8's on River Road, will let you know, they are running $55 to $65 if you book more than 3 nights.

Shuttle services are nice but miss one and you wait, wait, wait. Would have to know the schedult and if at the coin show, sure would hate to spend time watching the time. Also, once in Elk Grove Village, kind of at the mercy of the motel. At least on River Road, can't get lost regardless of North or South, it is still on the same Road. And so many places to eat cheap. I'm not a fan of McDonals, but taking my grandaughter there all the time, getting use to that STUFF. If you want a place with an outdoor area, that Rog's place on River Road has that too. Not sure but there may be a Pace Bus on River Road. Have to check that out too.

I have no problem with the noise. The Hotel said in the e-mail that shuttle to the convention center was on request either way If it gives me an extra few dollars to spend on coins by not getting a taxi or bus then I am prepared to wait a few minutes. I spend most of my life in a loud environment so I don't think it will be an issue I also suspect there will be plenty of sound proofing. Either way if I get the time off its where I'm staying.

just carl, you bring up some good points, I did some checking and the Super8 on North River Road is 3.3mi away from the Convention Center plus $12 more than the one nohope is talking about. That's $48 more for coins. Then you have to pay for some sort of transit to the Center. The more I look the more I think nohope may be right. I live in a very very quite area so I may have to get some ear plugs.

Check out the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center website. You'll find links to the hotels and restaurants. You can find maps of Rosemont with the hotel locations shown.
Old Joke: The are only two seasons in Chicago, winter and road construction.
I checked the IL Dept. of Trans. site yesterday and it looks like there will be roadwork in that area in August. You may want to stay away from that. It will be hot and if you're planning on walking one of those routes, you may not be able to do that.

Many day show so anyone know what days they'll be there? Or about what times? Kind of a difficult question if your from out of town though. Also, just noticed on the calendar that the show is during the week and ends on Saturday. If anyone is still in the area, there is another, much, much smaller coin show in Itasca, West on Irving Park Road on the following Sunday.

Where you coming in from Carl? My wife is real good at getting as many discounts she can when it comes to hotels and rental cars. She's also studying public trans to and from the show.
