I haven't kept any actual noodling stats, but in Jul 07 I found a 1966 10C upset coin, 3 weeks later I found another one, and recently when I was going through a container of 10c errors, I came across a third that I don't even remember finding. I guess I've probably noodled many thousands of 10c coins, and to have found 2 in quick succession back in 07, and only one other since then indicates that noodling success is pure luck. If I went by my stats from 07 I should have a few dozen of them by now. I am currently noodling $200 of 10c, (chasing some 2011 10c)and am keeping stats, so will report my findings when I'm finished.

Good luck Nancy. I have added some 10c to my normal 50c searching but have not found any yet. I think I have been through about $200 of 10c so far.

Interesting stats Nancy - better you than me with those fiddly 10c coins.... I notice you found the 2011's are not common, and as the years go on they'll be even harder to find, methinks - maybe as scarce as 1985, if not more so. I'd found 4 2011's in my $100 bag. I've found a 1 o'clock upset 1966 10c in an earlier noodle

The whole reason for the noodle was to snare some 2011's, so I suppose I achieved my goal.

Went to the coin dispenser in town today to try my luck at some 5 cent noodling. Have never tried this before. Thought I would "dip my big toe into the water" to try it Made a request for 5 rolls - only $10. So cheap Put in a 50 dollar bill. I was hoping for some bills in my change to check for special serial numbers To my horror I found that the machine just kept issuing 5 cent rolls . No bills Just rolls and rolls of 5 cent coins, with two rolls of 10 cents thrown in and a few dollar coins Leaving the bank with a bag full of loot I felt like But I will go through the 18 rolls of 5 cent coins and 2 rolls of 10 cent coins and post the stats. Also any unusual finds. Sigh ... Squire

I know Commbank has some coin dispenser machines, but when I enquired about using them some time ago I was told you need a business account with them. Squire, Sounds like you got more than you bargained for. I think you will be hooked when you find something good. Good luck!

There are coin dispenser machines all over the Melbourne CBD. I visited one of these yesterday. If you are a customer with a particular bank, you can get a card to use these dispenser machines. I have found that getting a card does not cost you anything, there are no hidden fees or charges. I simply fronted up at a teller and asked. Once you have the card you simply go up to the dispenser machine, put the card in and you will then have a menu of the available coins (5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents .... $1, $2 etc)on the screen. The screen will show you what denominations are available. You push the buttons - I pushed the 5 cent button 5 times yesterday. Then you put in the money into the slot - ideally try using the correct change , in this case a 10 dollar bill. You will then receive 5 rolls of 5 cent coins which you can noodle at your leisure . Also a receipt of the transaction. Squire

Ok, I noodled through 13 rolls of the 5 cent coins last night. Tonight I will finish noodling through the remaining rolls. I will post the stats of my findings up soon afterwards. Actually, I do not like noodling 5 cent coins . The dates and features on these coins are tiny. After the session I had "tunnel vision" and after-images of Queen Elizabeth playing croquet with curled-up echidna's Give me 20 cent, 50 cent and 1 dollar coins anyday Squire

Thanks for the info on the dispensers Squire. Perhaps one year they will be around here. (Probably not enough coin traffic). Looking forward to the results.

Speaking of quick change machines, I went to a NAB today to do some noodling, just a tiny bit. I slapped in the card in the machine but for some reason wouldn't let me hit the continue button so I went inside and told the teller and asked for the coins I wanted. She asked if I had a business and I said no. She continued to get ticked and angrily got a bag out and slapped the rolls onto the counter like its illegal to get coins for ones self. Then asked for my quick change card back since I wasnt "supposed" to have it and she was gonna report to whoever gave it to me. So I grabbed the coins and kept my card and jetted outta there. I know where I'm never going again in melbourne...
