Want me to post a pic of it tomorrow? I like it but the alluminium oxide is not as strong looking as the silver but still looks great

I would love if you did especially both sides of the coin. I assume you already got it.

I'll be watching tomorrow for some photos. By the way, did you ever look at or buy the War of 1812 1/4oz gold piece from the RCM?

Quote: the SML Wildlife series don't cost spot + more than 100% at launch though.. And that's the quote of the year. The mint in 2012 seemed to act like a drug dealer in many respects, putting out amazing cheap products (Wolf through Pronghorn Maples, Polar Bear/Canoe $20 for $20, etc), and then either transmuting the series into an advertisement for grossly overpriced other series, or co-opting the series as in the "new" wildlife series, which sees the mint in essence continue the series at triple the price. The fact that the one ounce beaver is the first coin of this new set, as opposed to following the pronghorn is a disgrace. I like some mint products, and some of my top 10 pieces are mint product, but I am completely against their business model and ethical position. The Royal Canadian Mint should be tasked first and foremost with maintaining the exceptional quality of Canada's currency, and producing world-class collector coins. Cheap frosting, coins costing 4X bullion, constantly creeping prices, even mid-series, shipping fiascos, catering to dealers over the public, and many other missteps are evidence of yet another bumbling government department masquerading as a private sector enterprise.

I was debating over the gold arctic fox and the war of 1812 gold piece. The premium is higher but has a lower mintage. Hard choices. More $$$ to spend.

lower mintage perhaps because the 1812 gold didn't sell so well? Canada_coins must be cringing with all the members in this thread rooting for the sandblasted, heavy, high contrast/low detail frosting the RCM is migrating to. I guess it really stands out when used on more 2-dimentional designs, but what does the obverse look like? (is the queen mother wrinkle free now? :P )

Well... I've seen the War of 1812 gold piece. The price is closer to spot price but has a mintage of 2000 coins. The arctic fox is unique and has a higher price tag. Almost $80 more than the War of 1812 but has a mintage of 1500 coins.
