Hi robster, could you tell us a little about how you capture the images? They all look good to me but the 1954 1/2d looks really good.

Rob.

First of all thanks for your interest- As is obvious the pics are getting better as I learn a few tricks. I have a Nikon D3200 which is mounted on a stand to allow shots directly overhead. I am currently using a Tokina 100mm Macro Lens which allows me to shoot far enough above the coin to allow good lighting.
I use two LED lamps (Jansjo) which I purchased from IKEA ($15) each with flexible heads to allow a bit of movement. I raise the coin slightly of the base to put the background out of focus and take the shot (focusing manually).
I then plug the camera into a laptop and transfer shots to Windows Office Picture Manager. Using PhotoScape software I resize, .crop and sharpen and then transfer to Photobucket
I then transfer the image to here.!! If pushed I can complete the entire process in about 5 minutes.!!

Cheers robster, a quick google search suggests the camera is worth $400-$500? And, Wow, the lens about the same? Actually it doesn't surprise me about the lens. The results speak for themselves.

I just checked the IKEA website, those Jansjo lamps are now $30. Still, they look pretty good.
