Did you take more pictures from different angles, more close up? From this picture, it appears as though the string tape was cut. If the bars broke through I'd expect the tape left on the box to look jagged/broken/distorted/stretched. That kind of tape doesn't break so cleanly in my experience. Also, did the tape go all the way around where it is open on the right side, as well as on the opposite side that wasn't open? Where the upsidedown lettering is in the picture, can you feel it and tell if the tape was there at one point if it's not there now? If it's tacky to the touch, then that to me would indicate tampering, but if it was smooth like the rest of the box, I'd think Goldmart could have secured the packaging better. Have you considered conducting your own experiment with another USPS mailer and similar tape? You definitely have the 100 silver bars to use :)

I'm one of the many who've received many packages via USPS from Goldmart. Although my packages frequently contain multiple tubes of coins, I've never gotten any
100oz doorstops from them. Nonetheless, the way they sealed and taped up the boxes was bordering on bombproof. I believe getting anything in the box to bust out
through the box would be physically impossible. In addition to that, they generously pack the inside of the box so the contents aren't bouncing around loose and able
to bust out. You could toss the Goldmart packages I've received from the roof of a 3 or 4 story building onto a concrete sidewalk and I don't think any of their boxes
would've busted open.

I smell a bad dog somewhere in the USPS kennel, but I'm sure they'll violate local noise ordinances when they start screaming how innocent and blameless they are.

I think I remember reading someplace that the major national online bullion dealers make video recordings of their employees packing their orders, so it'll be interesting to
see how this plays out.

Condolences with your problem and here's hoping it works out promptly and for the best.

I suggest you ask to see behind the counter...Best case scenario, the bar fell out into your P.O. box and is sitting there unrecognised and unstolen. Or, an employee is looking very pleased with themselves and is carrying a new mug whilst wearing a brand new high end suit.

Of course, I doubt any big seller would be so careless with packaging.

Just awful. But sounds good that Goldmart is going to make it right. Still I don't understand how you have the gold coins if you refused to sign for the box?

Sorry, I left that part out. After I talked to the head honcho over at Goldmart and he assured me that they would follow up and make sure I got my silver back one way or another, he told me to go ahead and sign for the package so I could take the gold with me.

Sorry to hear about this. I hope Gold Mart makes this right soon. And I was just about to make an order off their website for the first time (larger ones) - now you've got me thinking twice.

USPS does that. I had something similar done to a package of mine but it was a larger package and had household stuff. I did file a complaint with itemized details of the missing items and was told that I will get the stuff if and when they found it. They never did! Thankfully in your case, goldmart is sending you the missing stuff. That is a big plus and I will be sure to think of goldmart in my future purchases.

Hoping everything works out for you. That kind of tape is pretty strong, can't hardly believe it just broke.

. It doesn't like like an accident to me..

Indeed Goldmart deserve some credit for taking responsibility.

I hope they'll get to the bottom of this (before it happens again), and that you'll get your PM.

Barry,
I know exactly how you feel...It happened to me twice but with smaller amounts. I was compensated but only after tremendous hassles and waste of time. ebay of course...
2 rolls of silver Eagles loose in a flat rate box with the outside not tapped. I wrote the seller and sent him the pix. What were you thinking? I asked the guy. Packages are literally thrown everywhere during their travels. One of the rolls had open and thank God only one coin had slipped out through one end of the box. After that episode, needless to say, I had to advise sellers to please stuff their boxes and tape them thoroughly.(without insulting them)
Good Luck man

That tape is almost impossible to rip through without some force. Someone probably stole the silver, but left something in the box to make it look like it was "lost". It is really hard for that much silver to fall out and not have any postal employee notice. I lost all hope with the post office when they lost my coins over two months ago (I'm still trying to get my $ from the insurance claim). The post office is useless, it's no wonder why they are bleeding money like they are. I find it funny that the US Mint doesn't even use the US post office, but chose Fed-Ex to deliver their coins. That is saying something.

This must be so frustrating for you. For the past few days, everytime I see someone post in here, I jump in, hoping to see a happy ending. Nothing.

I'm about ready to punch a random person in the face, and it didn't even happen to me.

All I know is, if Goldmart doesn't help you, they will lose a lot of potential customers from here.

Just got off the phone with the account rep at Goldmart. He said the replacement order should be shipping today or tomorrow via UPS. Keeping my fingers crossed...
