With a week to go, there are already 3 guys who have bid over $500. How many bidders are lying in wait? If I wanted that roll I wouldn't bid now, I would snipe it at the close. Wait until the snipers come out, then I bet this thing easily goes over $1,000.

So, if paying $9.95 + tax for 50c of pennies is foolish ...

With easy money like this, there are probably a half dozen shops in China already working on making '20,000 of 20,000' stickers.
LOL. But, there can be only one. Would they have the patience to keep all but one unavailable at a time?

Maybe they'll just make 20,000 counterfeit stickers? Then we can all have a 20,000/20,000 special last pennies ever roll.

It's entirely possible, but either way it is the last "certified" roll of pennies that Canada ever produced.

I just retracted my bid. I said to myself, $570 is too much money to pay for a roll of pennies. My wife would kill me or make me take her on a shopping trip to the mall.

Looks like someone else did too. The price dropped dramatically.

That's just terrible, don't bid if you don't mean it. Some people ban buyers who retract bids.

To be perfectly honest with you, I only realized after a few hours and still 6 days left in the auction that I got caught up in the hype. People in the forum have cancelled purchases before even through the mint including buyers remorse. This is no different. I had intention on bidding on this item and realize it was way above my comfort zone. Even $30 to $40 for a random mint penny roll is out of the question for me.

It's completely different than cancelling at the Mint. When you cancel on ebay, the next highest bidder might think you are a shill bidder who just drove up the price, and had no intention of buying, and that could cause the transaction to look suspicious. So he withdraws his bid and so on. If you can't afford $40, how could you even think of bidding $500?

@Jsinger21: I am not sure that cancelling orders at the Mint or CP are what Neil and Rockdaddy are referring to. Both of those companies have return policies which allow for that..... with ebay you are entering into a legally binding contract, and some people take offence when people make bids without being serious.

Depends on the circumstances also. The other guy wrote "Seller changed the description of the item". It is possible that there is some information about this role that we don't know about that cause the other buyer to pull out. I think the roll will go for over $500. There is still lots of time.

Don't want to sound like a broken record since I'm new here but retracting a bid is totally "not cool" I've been on ebay since 2000, and nothing iritates me more than seeing retracted bids in my own personal listings. IMHO, you have basically tainted the whole auction. Like mentioned earlier, veteran eBayers will shy away from auctions with numerous bid retractions because the seller is now under suspicion for using shill bidders to "ferret" out the highest bid.
