Non paying bidder system does not work. Used to be if you got enough strikes you were suspended. Now all you can to is block people with non paying bidder strikes. It is almost impossible to get suspended for not paying. ebay changed from what it used to be. It was very seller friendly but now they are pro buyer. They had to do this because they were loosing business.

So just to clarify something, when you have a biding bid whether it's during or after an auction ends are 2 different things. I've sold things on ebay before only to find out the buyer didn't want the item only for me to re-list the item. That was a non-paying bidder. As for a bid during the auction, people do have the choice to retract their bid(s) for one of three reasons. If retracting a bid is so bad, maybe ebay should not have the option readily available. The only to retract a bid should be left ONLY to the seller. Maybe ebay will change their policy one of these days.

You even sell on ebay, this just keeps getting worse. But I do agree with you, ebay shouldn't let a buyer retract bids unless it's minutes after I beleive.

Rockdaddy, Yes I have sold things before on ebay and have been messed up at the last minute. I think ebay should change their policy but again it's not like I messed up the buyer at the last minute or after the auction ended. I even got messed up last week on the 1989 complete Gold Maple Leaf set in proof. After winning the auction fair and square, I still never ended up getting the item. Life stinks and there isn't much anyone can do. Again, I'm sorry but I had more than enough time to cancel my bid. It's a shame that a $10 bid caused a drop of $200 from the next bidder to cancel shortly afterwards.

One thing fishy about this episode is why would you cancel your bid when you are not even the highest bidder? You bid $570 while the other guy bid $700 therefore you didn't really need to cancel the bid since you weren't winning anyway.

silverfever,
Actually, I was the highest bidder to my recollection. When I retracted my bid, the price dropped only $10. The auction at this point was in $10 increments.

Thanks for clarifying because in the bid history it shows the other guy retracted a $700 bid after you. I guess no harm done since the auction has reached US$580.00 again.

silverfever,
When I was bidding on the penny roll at the time, the highest bid was $560. I placed a bid at $570 only to retract it in a few hours. Apparently someone else at the time placed a bid to $700 only to retract it. I'm not really following the auction at the moment and I'll most likely wait till the end to see what the coin roll fetches.

It's amazing how people already want to "hang me out to dry" for making a decision to cancel my bid on ebay with 6 days left in the auction. The whole comment I posted earlier about my wife was just a joke. I guess the joke is on me. If you want to ban me from the forum and/or ebay that is your choice. Again, I'm truly sorry.

A serial number on a bill is a attribute of the bill.
If there was a radar ID code on a PCGS coin slab, would it matter?
The number on the HOLDER or some slip of paper (COA) which has little to no actual meaning for item involved, would seem to be frivolous.

I disagree. The items serial makes a difference. Number 1 of anything in my opinion is worth more than the other numbers in the series. Asians take numbers very seriously. My building does not have a floor with a 4 in it. The COA or serial number has nothing to do with the order the coins are made. In bills if you have bill 20,000 that is the 20,000th bill. Unfortunately having a penny role with 20,000 symbolizes the last pennies ever issued. That is worth a premium. Unfortunately the idiots at the mint should have auctioned off the real last role for auction and put a special sticker on it and a special privy mark. I think those would have sold for $10,000.

Some interesting information about this roll. I asked the seller for some information and this was his reply: Quote:Hello, Thanks for your interest. *** Details Removed by Request *** This particular item was only released through RCM and not Canada Post. I had initially ordered qty 50 of these but my rep was only able to allocate qty 40 of them. Once the item is sold out as retailers we can sell it on the secondary market. I was extremely lucky that this one was one of the ones that was sent to me. I am more than happy to provide more pictures. If your a serious bidder you are more than welcome to come down to my store *** Details Removed by Request ***Thanks and good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
