there is no way pgcs will certify these rolls as last strike they are not last penny struck only last distributed by RCM, as for ms70 Canadian proof coins rarely grade a 70 most at best is a 69.

@john100
Do you think they would certify the sticker alone, assuming you could get the sticker off or it fell off.
By the way, I was using humor, I hope you understood that. I really don't think you could send a roll of pennies for certification.

Unbelievable that this roll has hit this amount and it's just over the halfway mark. Still 3 1/2 days left. There's also 4 bidders that have bid at least $1,550 or higher. Just wait for the last minute on this auction. It's going to be insane!

just guessing, the winner of this roll will have lots of second thoughts, at the finish maybe a 5000.00 wrapper, nothing like a runaway auction

Imagine if you would that this was not a Canadian Penny but a US penny. How much would this roll sell for if it was a US penny, the last US penny? $100,000? Could happen, there have been discussion to this effect already.

Definitely not out of the question. There are a lot of big time collectors with deep pockets that would pay for the bragging rights (as we're seeing with the Canadian last roll). This roll is certified as the absolute last roll for circulation. Whether it is or the label is really is irrelavent as this one is marked as the last and that won't ever change. That makes this a one of a kind item. There will never be another roll of pennies distributed.

I assume you mean an adjusted equivalent situation, which would be roll labelled 200,000/200,000 from a last batch of 10,000,000.
The actual last US penny, if it was allowed in the wild, would probably go for $1 million in the US.

For circulation. Never say never with NCLT as far as the RCM is concerned.

Good point. Never assume what they will do. If you watched the video, I wonder what they'll do with that small batch that fell in the glass jar before the last penny came out? Just a thought, wouldn't a NCLT item need to be different in some type of way though? If it's the same production pennies it would be CLT?

Quote: This roll is certified as the absolute last roll for circulation As tiring as this is, I can't let that one go by again. This roll is not certified as the last roll. There is no certificate from the Mint, the Government of Canada or anyone else to authenticate or represent this roll, or any other, as the last roll for circulation. Further, since it didn't follow the normal distribution channels, it could be argued that that's not even intended for circulation but that's another can of worms. The roll has an audit tag attached as 20,000/20,000. This serial number is nothing more than an internal audit control to allow the mint to easily determine how many rolls they have produced. It's pretty effective. Print 20,000 stickers. Attach them to the rolls, and when you have no more stickers, you have 20,000 rolls. No need to count 1M pennies or 20,000 rolls. That said, I wish the seller well. If someone wants to pay 5 grand or more, who cares?! As long as the seller collects the taxes and includes the gain on his tax return, it's all fair.

Everyone will be watching to see what the final price and who is the winning bidder. Maybe someone from this forum or another.
