Quote: Imagine if the winning bidder was the mint CEO. Maybe he wants the roll back. lol...
Not so far fetched. That #20,000 roll would be a fitting compliment to display with the last penny struck.[

the ceo of the RCM knows this roll contains only 50 random 2012 pennies worth 50 cents plus a wrapper. But if the market continues to increase in value, great for those who purchased

Obviously, THE wrapper serial number holds the value, not what's inside. The 20,000 serial number is a symbolism. Many see a significant value in that serial number.

if this #20000 roll was an important coins, it would be as the last penny produced be already in the National currency musuem. The last roll of penny produced might be traced to a box already in some dealer or collectors hands, each box of coins minted in winnipeg has a time and date code on it.

You're missing the point. My opinion is it should have gone into the museum. You don't think so, that's your opinion. Difference of opinions. EOM.

Quick everyone sell there 2012 penny's lol.I believe it's the ones Canadian coin and currency put together with the special wrapper but not the last million ones,a guy got two rolls of those ending in less than an hour and there over 50 dollars plus shipping, crazy.
Although the listing does seem a little misleading to me.

I take it that all the last 20,000 rolls are all non-magnetic......Anyone got a magnetic roll?

I forgot to check my roll for magnetic coins. I just opened it looking for 2011 or 2013 pennies.

Tomorrow - pictures of my roll will be posted. Got from the Mint #2990, and today expected one from CA. Will decide which to open.

Got to be more than the #20,000 last 2012 roll sold for. I would say thousands if not more

Seriously, I think the date is on the matrix. So, extensive illegal activity would have to occur for a 2013 to exist.
We're not talking polishing up an end-of-run die and taking a point punch to it, here.

The Mint should issue a regular 2013 penny with a mintage of 10,000 with COA numbering and sell them for $100 each. People can say what they want about the price being too high, but it would sellout before general release guaranteed.
Disclaimer: Mint if you see this post and copy my idea, I want first dibs on COA 1 and COA 10,000 ;)
