Hi all I am New to this site but wanted to share what happen to me last week I bid on a 1928 Saint Gaudens $20 gold coin and it was in a Bezel total weight was I think 47 or so grams, now this was on Auction Zip, as soon as I got the coin I though this saint would grade MS62 or 63 then I thought wait this is to good to be true, So I took the coin out of the Bezel and looked it over Very Very Nice then I got my scales out and Guess what it waited only 24.24 grams FAKE, I even took it to Two Coin Shops and showed it too them both said this is a Beautiful Coin no ware what so ever, now at this time I had not told them the Hole story both offer to buy the Saint then I ask them do you see anything wrong with the coin both places said No its great, so I ask them if they had a Coin Book that told the weight of all Gold coins they did so that got them to thinking I assume the Books said 1928 St Gaud 33.34 grams. So I told them to weight this one and it weight 24.24 grams they were stuned, I told them Now you have seen a great Russian or China Fake so on and on. But I called and sent it Back and told the Guy if I ever see that coin on his Auction again I was calling the FBI, CIA and TX Rangers which I guess there still Real LOL. The Point being and Coin can be Faked. Jim Oh I did get My Money Back. today it went back on PayPal

A sad story with a happy ending. I'm glad this worked out well for you. Was the coins edge ground down to fit the bezel? I have seen this before and this will reduce the weight. At least you know the seller was willing to give you a refund and that's always a plus.

Can we see some pictures of it?

As a collector of counterfeits I am quite curious. :-)
